David Meiswinkle For Sheriff, Mercer County, NJ

David Meiswinkle is running for Sheriff in Mercer County, New Jersey. In this conversation, he made clear the duties and opportunities of being Sheriff in Mercer. I was inspired by his intended approach to the County’s problems and possibilities. I hope you enjoy this conversation. I did. It’s an honor to call him a friend. A longtime resident of East Windsor, New Jersey, David has spent his life in public service as an Army soldier, police officer, attorney, educator, and community advocate. As Sheriff he will serve every resident, every community, and every family with integrity, professionalism, and respect. He believes in public safety first and foremost.

David served 23 years with the New Brunswick Police Department. He went to law school at night, opened a law practice in New Brunswick, and spent about a decade helping the Middlesex and Somerset County Public Defender’s Office with hundreds of criminal cases.

David was the President and Executive Director of the Lawyers’ Committee for 9/11 Inquiry, a nonprofit that investigated the 9/11 crimes, including the anthrax attacks, and presented significant evidence to federal authorities. David also taught philosophy as an adjunct professor and has remained active in civic and community affairs throughout his career.

He is currently the President of the National American Renaissance Movement, a NJ nonprofit dedicated to preserving national and individual sovereignty and freedom. He is also the father of three children and grandfather of five.

A THREE-PART SOLUTION

Know Thyself. Question Authority. Encourage Others.

But first, 9/11, 2001. The murder of many innocent people.

Walt Whitman wrote many poems in the 1800s. One of them is called Song of Myself. It’s long. Two-thirds through, there’s this:

I am the mash’d fireman with breast-bone broken,

Tumbling walls buried me in their debris,

Heat and smoke I inspired, I heard the yelling shouts of my comrades,

I heard the distant click of their picks and shovels,

They have clear’d the beams away, they tenderly lift me forth.
