Reality and Revelation

Reality & Revelation with Rick Peterson brings the conversations usually reserved for barbershops, beauty salons, basketball courts, and behind closed doors into the open.

With a passion for education, learning, and asking the “why” behind the “what,” Rick explores the real issues shaping our families, careers, communities, finances, mental health, spirituality, and everyday lives. Some conversations will make you laugh. Others may challenge, anger, inspire, or move you but none will avoid the truth.

Each episode begins with the reality of what is happening, why it matters, and whom it affects. Then, the conversation moves toward revelation: what we can learn, what we can do, and how we can create meaningful change in our own lives and the lives of those around us.

Pull up a chair and join the conversation because real change begins when we are willing to talk about what others avoid.

  • How To Spot Pathological Liars-Lessons from Cheyenne Bryant
    Aug 18 2026

Some people don’t just lie, they build a whole personality around it. We’re talking about the “die with a lie” type: confident, charming, always one story away from sounding credible, and somehow still treated like the most interesting person in the room. Using the public Cheyenne Bryant conversation as a jumping-off point, we get honest about a reality most of us have lived: you don’t need to know her to know someone like her.

We break down what people mean when they talk about pathological lying, including the terms pseudologia fantastica and mythomania, and why this behavior can show up across dating, work, church life, politics, and social media. We also talk about why the internet can amplify fake success: staged photos, rented lifestyles, and the rush of getting others to believe a version of you that isn’t real. The hard part is that when you challenge the lie with facts, you can get labeled jealous or bitter, even when you’re simply telling the truth.

Then we pivot to protection and healing. If you’re faith-based, we talk discernment and what it looks like to let God order your steps. If you’re not, we get practical: stop listening so hard to words and start looking at actions, patterns, and details. Liars can sell the headline, but they usually can’t keep the specifics straight.

If you’ve ever been burned by someone’s story, listen closely, share this with a friend who needs it, and subscribe so you don’t miss what’s next. After you listen, leave a review and tell us: what’s the biggest red flag you’ve learned to trust?

  • If You Cannot Invest In You Who Will
    Aug 4 2026

Affordability is not just about rent, it is about the slow drip of money leaving your life without your permission. We open the very first Reality and Revelation Podcast with a clear-eyed look at why so many people feel stuck even when they work hard and do “the right things.” From subscriptions to convenience spending, those small charges can quietly turn into a monthly burden that shrinks your choices and steals your momentum.

We get specific about the numbers behind the pressure: housing costs rising faster than wages, the growing strain of groceries and car ownership, and why even six-figure incomes can still feel like paycheck-to-paycheck living when lifestyle costs expand. We also talk about the emotional side of money, including the frustration of being told to simply “get a better job” while real-world expenses keep sprinting ahead.

Then we pivot to the revelation: affordability improves when we take control of income and start investing in ourselves. That can begin with micro sacrifices like cutting back on subscriptions, daily splurges, and convenience buys, then redirecting those dollars into your skills, your idea, and your personal brand. We talk vision, superpowers, monetizable talent, and the discipline it takes to cheerlead yourself when nobody else will. If you are ready to stop funding everyone else’s dream and start planting seed in your own house, this one is for you.

Subscribe for more conversations that turn hard reality into practical revelation, share this with someone who needs the push, and leave a review with the step you are taking next. What are you willing to afford yourself starting today?

  • Reality And Revelation: Intro Episode
    Aug 1 2026

No filter, just truth and a challenge to stop whispering about the things that shape our lives. We built Reality And Revelation as a place where the conversations that usually stay behind closed doors finally get a seat at the table, the kind you hear at the beauty salon, the barbershop, or in a quick huddle with friends. If we do not talk about it together, we can be divided by talking about it individually, and that division shows up everywhere.

We introduce why this podcast exists and why I care so much about asking the why behind the what. “Reality” is the clear-eyed look at what is happening in our world right now, how it’s happening, and who it’s happening to. “Revelation” is the next step: what we can do to impact change, make a difference, and shift the trajectory of what’s going on around us. That means we do not stop at commentary, we aim for clarity you can use.

We also lay out the range of topics you can expect across the season: family, home, community, job pressure, finances, environment, mental health, and spirituality. Some conversations will make you laugh, some may make you emotional, and some may make you angry, but the goal stays steady: bring revelation to reality and stop avoiding what matters. Subscribe, share this with someone who loves real talk, and leave a review to help others find us. What conversation do you want on the table first?
