We hear that God forgives us by His grace. It's the core message of the Gospel, or Good News, about the love of God in Christ. It is very likely however, that we do not truly understand forgiveness as told through the story of the Prodigal Son. That kind of forgiveness is nearly impossible to fathom, difficult to believe, and even more difficult to give.

Hearing that God is always for us is much easier than truly feeling that God always is always for us, especially if we have failed. What's more difficult is truly feeling that God is always for those who have been judged, and even condemned, by religious culture.

At Rancho Fiesta, we celebrate more than culture—we celebrate the beautiful diversity of God’s Kingdom. Jesus prayed that His people would be one, and through humility, hospitality, and the power of the Holy Spirit, we can embrace our differences and live in unity. God’s invitation is for everyone—every tribe, every language, every people, and every nation.

In the story of the Prodigal Son, God is described as a father who allows freedom and encourages good behavior by values and personal choice. The father didn't tightly control the younger son, he didn't tightly control the older son, and certainly didn't control nature - the famine that swept the land. But through it all, God is a loving, present Father leading us forward in love, restoration, and hope.

Message by: Scott Treadway The Church is the hope of the world." We explore this phrase in light of the teaching and example of Jesus and His disciples while examining how the modern church may or may not be aligned with Jesus' vision for the new community He came to establish on earth.
