We’re diving into one of the most familiar stories in all of Scripture: David and Goliath. But what if we’ve been missing the most important part of this story? Too often, we read ourselves into the narrative, turning David into a hero we must imitate and Goliath into whatever obstacle we happen to be facing. While this may sound encouraging, it risks missing the greater truth God has revealed through His Word.

In this message, we’ll examine the dangers of self-centered interpretation, consider four principles for accurately understanding Scripture, and trace the story of David and Goliath through the greater redemptive story of the Bible. From the promise in Genesis 3:15 to the finished work of Christ, we’ll see how David points us toward a greater King who has defeated a far greater enemy.

The good news isn’t that we can conquer every giant in our lives. It’s that Jesus Christ has conquered sin, death, and the devil, securing an eternal hope for His people. Join me as we dig into God’s Word, discover the truth of this familiar story, and look to Jesus, our victorious King and true hope!

Philippians 4:13 is one of the most quoted verses in the Bible—but it is also one of the most misunderstood. “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” has become a slogan for winning, achieving, overcoming obstacles, and accomplishing our dreams. But is that actually what Paul meant?

In this message, we’re taking a closer look at Philippians 4:13 and learning why context matters when we read and interpret Scripture. We’ll consider five practical principles for guarding ourselves against twisting the Word of God, and then we’ll put those principles into practice by examining the verses surrounding Philippians 4:13.

When we understand the passage in its proper context, we discover that Paul isn’t promising success by the world’s standards. He is pointing us toward something far better: contentment in Christ regardless of our circumstances. Whether in plenty or in need, Christ is enough.

So the question before us is simple but searching: Is Christ enough for us?

Join me as we untwist Philippians 4:13, rediscover the beauty of biblical contentment, and learn to approach God’s Word with humility and care. Let’s dig in and look to Jesus, our true hope!

This week we’re diving into Hebrews 12:1–2 and asking a question many believers wrestle with: How should the church respond to troubled times? In a world marked by disaster, disease, violence, suffering, and the ongoing effects of sin, God’s Word reminds us that these struggles are not new. More importantly, it shows us how we are to respond.

Together we’ll consider four biblical responses found in Hebrews 12: Remember the faithfulness of God throughout history, Repent of the sin that hinders our walk, Redirect our eyes to Jesus, and Rejoice in the hope of the gospel. As we look to Christ—the founder and perfecter of our faith—we are reminded that He reigns sovereignly over all things and that nothing can separate His people from His love.
