  • Passing the Torch: Teaching Nonviolence to the Next Generation
    Oct 12 2015
Imagine being 17 years old in today's world: you can't remember a time when you did not have internet, cell phones, video games, or social media. For your whole life you've been bombarded with music, movies, and images that were banned for our generation. Violence, crime, sex, and drugs are glorified and romanticized on TV, radio, gaming, and film-- and all are just one click away. There has never been a time in your existence where there was peace in the world, and for as long as you can remember our country has been at war... Who is teaching the next generation the timeless, universal laws and principles of icons like Dr. King, Gandhi, Mandela, and Maya Angelou? Tune in this week as we discuss how we can pass the torch to the next generation-- because they ARE our future. Multi platinum, grammy nominated hip hop producer Kevin Khao Cates and international speaker and peace activist Rev. Carolyn Wilkins will join us and co-create SOLUTIONS in order to heal our wounded world.

  • Is Prison Reform in America Just a Pipe Dream? Part 2
    Oct 5 2015
It seems as if the whole world has gone mad... Bad news dominates the media, and stress and tension are on the rise. Wars abroad and economic concerns here at home lead the headlines. Heated election debates further divide the country, and everyone is taking sides-- politically, racially, and religiously. On top of all that there is a faith crisis in America, and people are becoming more and more disillusioned... Behind the scenes there is a growing and often unseen problem: overcrowded prisons, younger and younger inmates, fueled by an epidemic of addiction and drug related crime. Is there an answer? Is true prison reform and safer communities just a pipe dream in America? This week we will delve further into this very important issue with a man who is on the front lines of this battle for peace. Tune in this week as we discuss real solutions with Jay Neal, Executive Director for the Governor's Office of Transition, Support and Re-entry for the State of Georgia. The Power of Peace!

  • Am I Really My Brother's Keeper?
    Sep 28 2015
Most of us would agree that there is reason for concern with today's young people. Like the generations that preceded us, we can all say that we just don't understand what they are watching or listening to. But it's more than that. People can argue that it's always been this way, the only difference is that we have never had the 24 hour media coverage/access that we have now to see all the bad news. But we know that it's more than that. Too many young people are losing their way, and we can't just keep blaming, social media, video games, and hip hop music-- this generation lacks role models. This week Power of Peace Radio takes on one of the biggest issues our country faces today: The Absent Father... Whether in the inner cities or the suburbs; whether in the hood or the gated communities; whether through divorce, single parenthood, or a father who never leaves the home, but many times is still not there. This week: Fulton County Chairman John Eaves joins us-- tune in to Peace.

  • The Anatomy of A Dream
    Sep 21 2015
When you ask a young person today the question What do you want to do, and who do you want to be? Many of them pause and stammer and have to try to think of an answer to that all-important question. A better question would be: who ARE you, and what is your unique gift? The meaning of life is finding out what your special gift is. The purpose of life is to share it with the world. Many of this young generation today are drifting along unaware of their gifts and completely on autopilot when it comes to their dreams-- more of a whatever mentality. This week our guest is Singer and Actor Keith Robinson from the hit film Dreamgirls as well as many other acting accomplishments. He will discuss what it took to follow his dream to Hollywood and the passion and drive it took to succeed. We need to help our young brothers and sisters begin to dream and find out what makes them COME ALIVE. Passion hides in our unique gift. Tune in and join the conversation: The Power of Peace Radio.

  • Are young people today willing to pay the price?
    Sep 14 2015
Today we live in a fast food society. People want and expect things right NOW. Young people are being raised by media and technology that allows instant access to practically anything they desire with a simple keystroke. Movies, music, social media, and gaming make the American Dream look so easy and cheap. More and more youth are choosing entertainment over hard work and discipline, and they are finding fewer and fewer true role models to emulate. This week NBA Star Dennis 3D Scott joins Power of Peace Radio to speak about his journey that led him to Naismith Prep Player of the Year 1987, ACC Player of the Year 1990, and NBA All-Rookie First Team 1991. In 1995–96 Scott set an NBA single-season three-point field goal tally with 267, which was later broken by Ray Allen. He also set the NBA record for most three pointers made in a single game with 11 in 1996, which was later broken by Kobe Bryant. We will talk about big dreams, sacrifice and paying the price for victory. Tune in.

  • Is Prison Reform in America a Pipe Dream?
    Aug 31 2015
Prison reform has become a hot topic in America. Two and a half million people are locked up in the land of the free. For the first time in our nation's history, over half of our prison population are twenty five years old or younger. One third go into the system for nonviolent offenses, but two thirds come out having learned to be violent. Eighty percent have been convicted of a crime where drugs and alcohol played a part in their offense. Prison has become big business and the war on drugs fuels what appears to be a broken system built to fail, and where recidivism is on the rise... Is there a real solution? This week my guest is Warden Jason Bunting, a prison reform rising star. His progressive programs and policies are changing the correctional system in Ohio toward rehabilitation. Over ninety five percent of the currently incarcerated are coming home one day-- to OUR communities. The question is: in what condition will they return? Don't miss this episode of Power of Peace Radio.
