October 25, 2026 - Hebrews 11:1-3; 8-12

"The way the book of Hebrews talks about faith sounds much more robust than something we simply “receive.” Faith is dynamic, a gift that keeps on giving the whole year round, a push, a plunge, a leap, a direction.

Faith, at its core, is a verb, not a piece of intellectual property. Faith is present tense and ongoing. Faith is remembering those who’ve practiced faith before us and trusting their example. Faith is not built for museums, faith is meant for the open road. Don’t take my word for it, take those who have gone before us—those we read about in the scriptures, the early church, and beyond."

Grace, you recall, is kind of a big deal in the ancient Church and in my opinion, ought to be emphasized significantly more than it is in American Christianity today..."

October 11, 2026 - Exodus 19:3-7; 20:1-17 ...

"What I am trying to convey here is that understanding God or God’s ways is no simple task. I wonder if instead of seeking to keep these commandments written in stone and fighting for them to be cemented in courthouses and schools, that perhaps God’s plan all along was merely to grab our attention long enough so that we would also learn to listen for God speaking to us, heart to heart. And that as long as we stay true to that presence, that we will hear God being chattier than ever, and we too can be Moses for the people in our lives."
