In this episode we dive head-first into the weird, wild world of the Pukwudgie — tiny but terrifying beings from Native American folklore, especially via the Wampanoag. These little forest dwellers stand only about two to three feet tall, with grey or ashen skin, enlarged ears, noses, and fingers, and are often described as part-human, part-goblin/troll.
Once, according to legend, Pukwudgies might have even helped humans or lived peacefully alongside them — but things went south when they got jealous of the giants humans worshipped (like Maushop). Suddenly, “helpful forest folk” turned into nasty tricksters: they shapeshift, vanish on a whim, conjure magic, shoot poison arrows, and even lure people off cliffs.
