Using that image, he explores Jesus' powerful description of himself as the "cornerstone" rejected by the builders.
Fr. Rob explains that a cornerstone establishes the alignment for everything built upon it. When the religious leaders rejected Jesus, they failed to recognize the very foundation God had given them. The same challenge faces us today. When Christ is at the center of our lives, we find strength, direction, and grace, even amid suffering and uncertainty. But when we build on other foundations, life can quickly become disordered and difficult to navigate.
This homily invites us to examine what guides our decisions, shapes our priorities, and supports us through life's challenges. By making Christ our cornerstone, we discover a steadiness and hope that help us endure hardships and recognize God's presence in unexpected ways.
