    The United States government operates as a democratic republic rather than a pure Meritocracy, meaning political power is won through public elections and political appointments rather than strictly through tested ability or expertise.

    But shouldn't these elected or appointed representatives have real world expertise or qualifications to be considered?

    If you have never been a low level supervisor managing a department of ten people, how could you possibly manage the numerous budgets and personnel to run one of the largest cities on the planet?

    In the corporate world, job candidates or applicants are recruited, vetted and eventually selected to fill a role based on their previous work experience and their success.

    Today we will discuss why this discipline of Meritocracy vetting needs to be reconsidered in politics today.

    What we hope to highlight is that the "trendy" slogans of the far left that promise to make everything free, does nothing to improve anything in America. It's abolish this and cancel that with no submitted ideas or thoughts as to how to reform anything. Their platform policies and priorities construct nothing. It's destructive in every sense of the word.

    The "hot" topics that actually empower our economy, paves a way to sustainable affordability and truly lifts all boats and what you'll hear from the conservative candidates. Resolving once and for all the hostage takeover of the Strait of Hormuz by Irans IRGC is job one. Addressing and ending their feeble desire to control the economies of the entire world must end. All the rationale nations of the world realize that Iran can no longer be trusted at the table.

    TRENDY but feckless positions or priorities that do not influence Economics nor improves America tend to be only offering the far left Democrat Socialist of America have to offer. Abolish everything with no ideas or thoughts to offer for making America better.

    Abolish Ice. Abolish the Senate. Abolish the Presidency. Defund the Police. Close prisons. Reopen the borders. Free Healthcare for all. Trans rights in sports. Rent freezes. Free government run grocery stores. Can you imagine what this country would look like if these crazy loons got any of these ideas implemmented?

I’m happy to have Paul back in studio today to help us dive deeper into Messaging, Propaganda, Demographics and understanding the nonsense behind Polls.Last week we covered the topic of American Exceptionalism and how American Values differ from the ideals of Fascism. We also debunked the claims by the DSA and the loonie left that Trump was a King, a dictator, a fascist. Paul did a great job highlighting some of the real fascist and dictators of the past. After that show went live, I received an email from PragerU, with a link to one of their videos entitled “The Dark Legacies of History's Monsters.” I highly recommend you go check it out. I’ll leave a link at the bottom of our show notes so you can check it out. Here’s a brief teaser from the email I received.Vladimir Lenin, Joseph Stalin, Adolf Hitler, Mao Zedong, Fidel Castro, and Pol Pot. Together they were responsible for the bloodiest century in world history. This 6-part series reveals the truth about these notorious dictators, the consequences of their murderous regimes, and why it’s important for us to never forget what they did.Like I said in episode 319, I’ve watching news regularly for nearing 26 years. Before cable news became a thing, you were limited to sources like ABC, NBC, and CNN. But when these main stream channels started airing “feel good detraction pieces” instead of covering important news breaking relevant information, I moved over to FOX. They claimed to be offering “Fair and Balanced” journalism.NEWSMAX is where I turn to now for 90% of my news. This is cable new and they boast having over 40 million viewers now that they are a publicly traded news outlet. Ed Henry (former Fox reporter but at Newsmax he has a personality), Carl Higbie (a former Navy Seal), Rob Schmidt (pretty straight forward host), Rob Finnerty (can be a pretty funny guy and he has some funny voices to help him highlight a story), Greg Kelly and Greta Van Susteren.CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS, MS NOW are the fake news Trumps always referring to and here’s why.They don’t site sources, they refer to science and studies but never name them. They purposely use story or article headings like: “vehicle drives into crowd of onlookers” or “man snatched up by ICE in a quiet neighborhood.” Question. Did the vehicle just start itself up and drive into the crowd or did a “person” drive the vehicle into the crowd? Was it a man, woman or something else? What was the persons ethnicity, race, or motive? What kind of crowd was mowed down? Were they July 4th parade participants or a vigilante group? These are important details. You simply cannot read a headline and assume it’s accurate or even close. The odds are it’s bias from the get go IF it’s coming from the lame street media outlets. They have been far left for decades.49 Million Young People Will Be Eligible to Vote in the 2026 MidtermsYouth ages 18-29 are a large, powerful, and diverse voting bloc that can use their voice to shape electoral outcomes. By November, close to 8.5 million youth will have aged into the electorate since the 2024 presidential election. They join the 41 million voting-age members of Gen Z who were eligible to cast ballots in 2024. Gen Z now makes up the entire 18-29 age cohort.About 47% of the 49 million young people who will be eligible to vote in 2026 are youth of color, including approximately 10.8 million Latino youth, 6.6 million Black youth, 2.6 million multiracial youth, and 2.2 million Asian youth. The 2026 youth electorate is also diverse when it comes to college experience. 48% of eligible young voters in 2026 have college experience, while 51% do not. Youth without college experience have less access to political information, and appear to have lower access to the kinds of support and resources that lead to consistent civic engagement according to the article I’m referencing.. That historically leads to lower turnout among “non-college” youth.Turnout in midterm elections tends to be relatively low – much lower than in presidential elections– so the subset of people who actually cast ballots may look different from all registered voters.How did polls fair in calling midterm primaries?Recent polling misses in Wisconsin & Michigan renewed a familiar question. How much confidence should voters put in political polls?Not much. Just recently an investigation of US Senate polling shows 73% of surveys overstate the levels of support for Democrats.In Wisconsin’s Democratic primary, Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley pulled off a dramatic upset over state Rep. Francesca Hong. Crowley won with about 40% of the vote, narrowly edging Hong, despite polls showing Hong with a substantial lead in the final weeks.     Welcome to One Day Closer where we are rekindling a spirit of hope and truth into today’s crazy conversations. I’m happy to have a very long time friend of mine back in studio, Paul welcome back. Two shows ago, 319, I introduced everyone to our Fall Series entitled Pencil Neck Politicians, Policies and Positions and Paul jumped all over the topic. I had him with Pencil Neck Politicians.Last week I did a little “Dave Talk” on America and asked the question WHO is She (America) to You? What are your memories of her growing up? I shared my childhood and adulthood experiences with her and I highlighted how our listening audience under the age of 30 or 40, would have had a different experience than I did growing up. And that’s a shame. They were ripped off.But let’s assume for a moment that you weren’t ripped off. You were a surviver…not a victim but a conquer, just like all the rest of us that had to find a way to solider on through that period. I hope you’ll notice how I “positioned” or “posed” that question. I didn’t tee it up with a negative label like “victimhood” in hopes of feeding your frustration to join a rebellious cause, but rather I complimented you on being a surviver and then a conquer…for soldiering on through the difficult times. That in a nut shell is “messaging,” better known as “spin.”With crafted messaging and supportive imagery, one could easily be persuaded to “buy in” to all forms of propaganda, conspiracy theories, blatant lies and half truths. The only way to avoid falling prey to such scams, deceit and trickery, is to personally own the final interpretation or claim being offered. If you truly seek to know the truth, on any given topic, you’ll need to be inquisitive enough to dig deeper into the statements, claims, assertions, etc., on all sides and you’ll have to be open minded and double check the “fact checkers.”Today, Paul and I are going to do just that as we examine the question what is American Exceptionalism?Haters of America tend to suggest that American Exceptionalism is an arrogant thing. Exclusionary even. Maybe even racist, fascist, nationalist or even dictoral.Why is America desirable and sought after by every third world country and yet despised by the far left Democrat Socialist of America?American exceptionalism is the belief that the United States is unique or distinct from other nations in its values, political system, and historical development. This idea often includes the view that the U.S. has a special mission or moral superiority to lead the world. A quick Google Search reveals the following:Origins and Core IdeasEarly roots: The concept dates back to early settlers like the Puritans, who viewed America as a special "city upon a hill" chosen by God to lead by example. Founding principles: Proponents point to the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution as proof of a unique dedication to liberty, individual rights, and self-governance derived from the consent of the governed. Economic opportunity: The concept highlights America as a land of upward mobility where people can escape rigid European class structures. Global Role and Foreign PolicyWorld leadership: Believers argue that the U.S. has a duty to promote and defend democracy and human rights globally.Exceptionalism: Critics note that this mindset can lead the U.S. to act independently of international law or global treaties, assuming standard international rules do not apply to its actions. Founding Ideals and GovernmentThe Declaration of Independence: Stating that a government gets its power from the consent of the people, rather than a king. (So I guess this rules out America is being run by a Dictator or a King…even though they protest “No King”).Culture and SocietyThe American Dream: The belief that anyone can achieve success and social mobility through hard work, regardless of family background.The Frontier Spirit: A historical focus on westward expansion and self-reliance that shaped an independent national character.High Rates of Immigration: The continuous draw of people from around the world who move to the U.S. seeking freedom and opportunity.     Before we kick off our first, let’s call it, “Dave Talk” for our Fall Series entitled “Pencil-Neck Politicians, Positions and Policies” in preparation for the critical midterm elections, I thought it might be helpful to give you some background about myself. Where to begin? Well kids, once upon a time, a long, long, time ago, I was born in the hills of Tennessee in the mid 1900’s, and at the age of 13, my aspiring middle class family moved to the Midwest, flyover country for those in Washington DC. As a kid we played kickball, dodgeball, Red Rover Red Rover “send the chunky kid over” and Kick the Can just after dinner when the street lights came on. It was a wholesome upbringing, safe, full of adventure and 100% Do It Yourself offline entertainment, character building and social skills development. Imagination was the driver. If you could imagine it…you could build it. Dads went to work, kids rode the bus to school or walked, moms stayed home with the young’ins and we all gathered again around the dinner table for supper, before being dismissed to play outside under the street lights.That was my America growing up.I was blessed to have two active and engaged parents in my life living under the same roof and one elder brother I had to learn to share with. On Sundays, after Sunday nite church if my parents had saved enough change, we would stop my Pals Ice Cream shop on the way home for a single scoop ice cream cone or a chocolate shake.Summers in America where I grew up were magical.If you had parents, or if not, maybe an Uncle or an Aunt, a caring teacher or neighbor they would ask you “what do you want to be when you grow up?” You see in America, you were allowed, encouraged actually, to dream big and swing for the fence. You could be a fireman, a policeman, a doctor, a teacher, or the President of the United States. Folks went out of their way to encourage you to pursue your dreams…”go to college” they would say, “get a job and work real hard…you can be whatever you want." If you couldn’t afford college there were trade schools you could pursue or you could become an apprentice to a carpenter, electrician, welder, mechanic, you name it. But what you couldn’t say is “I want to be a freeloader, a hippie, a cheater and a theft, a no good scoundrel, a criminal, a gangster, a rapist, a serial killer, a community organizer, a radical protester, a commie, a race baiter or a transgender he/she and convince my future pupils that there are 16 different genders and the Lord God Almighty is non-binary.. That kind of ambition got you no where in my America.Growing up in my America meant everyone was all in to helping each other find their way to contributing positively to the development of the community, the citizenry, and the greater republic. Victimhood was not an acceptable career path.America has always been a land of opportunity. In her earlier days, if you wanted to be a farmer you bought a pig and some chickens. If you wanted to be a settler you sold your inherited possessions, maybe your grandpas pocket watch and bought a wagon, horses, supplies, pack up the family and headed west.Adventure and the unknown possibilities of a better tomorrow were the drivers. Anything was possible if you were willing to risk everything. Hope in a brighter future was the dream and Faith in a loving and ever present God was the pathway forward.That was our forefathers America.After having children I became more interested in politics as current policies at the time were effecting my earning power and opportunities so I needed to learn more about the players so I could vote more wisely and vote folks into office that aligned with my values.Leaders that would enacted policies that inspired and rewarded hard work, encouraged visionaries, entrepreneurs and supported the development of the nuclear family and their need for excellent k-12 education…a curriculum that did not introduce our kids to drag queen story hour, cross dressing, twerking dance moves by bearded men wearing lipstick, wigs, eye makeup and ladies lingerie. How did they think any of this would build a better, stronger more exceptional America?I started paying more attention to the news in advance of the dot.com bubble bursting in October of 2002 after it lost 78% of its value and started “watching” news nearly everyday since 9/11/2001. The fall of the twin towers was the first major attack on American soil since Pearl Harbor December 7, 1941. I just knew that things would be different from that day forward.It was clear to me, that if I wanted to protect my vision of America and leave her healthy enough for my kids and grandkids someday to experience the opportunities provided by America, I would have to become an active contributor and not just a passing through benefactor. This Fall Series is intended to help our US based listeners better understand their choices in November or hear, for the first time, the policy positions of their current favorite candidate…from an open and honest perspective.The objective is to highlight specific policies or positions candidates are pitching, communicate all sides of the argument, regardless of whether its a political challenge or a cultural challenge, ponder both the absurdity and the common sense surrounding each proposed solution…and give you, our listeners a mission, tools and direction as to how to engage.For our loyal listeners…don’t worry…Mark and I will still make time to poke fun at stupidity, connect supportive biblical references when appropriate and keep our eye on current affairs and keep you updated on the decimation of the IRGC, empowering the uprising of the Persian people that want to live and thrive, bible prophesy and what lies ahead from our perspective.But before I get started with a quick overview of what specifically we intend to cover over the next three months, I want to share an epiphany God gave me a couple of weeks ago during my evening prayer.As I prepared for bed and began contemplating what I want to talk with God about…my heart was heavy on ALL the things that are wrong with not just our country but the whole world. Have you ever done that? You start praying with hope and encouraging words and before you know it your complaining like a 7 year old kid or a recently graduated college kid…when they find out their basket weaving with bamboo draws little interest in the market.I was praying for our country and caught myself starting to complain about how everything is so jacked up, but then I decided to first thank him for the beauty of this plant, the beautiful cities I’ve been blessed to visit and the ones I haven’t yet seen, the culture… the food… the people…the uniquely different traditions and faiths practiced around the globe…his handiwork in the landscape, topography, oceans, the clarity of the waters of the Caribbean, the mountains and again the people….some built beautiful things, monuments, bridges towns, cathedrals… while others built fortunes by taking advantage of everyone…they pursue greed, scammed the system, pursued profit with one self-serving objective in mind…self…etc., etc.Then I asked Him, “Lord, how do we right this ship? Where do we start? People are divided, nations are still warring with neighboring nations, everything is broken, every institution in America has been left unchecked, unaudited and unaccountable, corruption is everywhere…and then he answered my question even before I was finished listing my complaints…“You right the ship the same way you built this nation…one generation at a time. Your life is your sacrifice for the freedoms you hope to pass down to your children’s children.”That was an epiphany for me because I’ve always thought that our life was our legacy and that was something we left behind for our loved ones…but His answer said “one generation at a time.” That means we all add a stone to wall. It’s not my job alone to build the wall or right the ship…it’s all of us that are called to make not only a contribution but a significant difference FOR THE NEXT GENERATION.It became clear to me that ODC can serve as MORE THAN a voice exposing and laughing at stupid. We could be an awesome teaching resource if we dove deeper into topics of vital importance. If we changed our focus or raised the bar just a little higher, we could offer more than just suggestions to “get involved at your school” or to “write your congressman.” So with that encouragement, I pitched Mark on the idea of the Fall Series and here we are. So. Here’s a quick overview of what we intend to cover over the next three months. We’ll start with a few starter courses to prep you guys for where we expect to end.
