In our second episode, host Emily Edge talks to photographer Pete Robinson about his documentary project 'Harvest From The Deep' - capturing the North Shields fishing community for over a decade.

Pete and Emily talk about his first seasick trip out on a prawn boat, how to project began and where it's headed next. They also discuss how the fishing industry has changed since Peter Mortimer's book 'The Last of the Hunters', the overwhelming public response to his 2025 photography exhibition at the Old Low Light Heritage Centre, and the stories - and people - that have stayed with him most over ten years as part of the community.

This episode is part of Emily's practice-based research project, The Sea as Threshold: Weaving North East Coastal Narratives through Saori Practice, exploring the sea as a liminal space between life and death through woven textiles.

About our guest: Pete Robinson is a photographer based in North Shields, known for his wedding and commercial photography alongside his long-term documentary project 'Harvest From The Deep'. His work has been exhibited at the Old Low Light Heritage Centre and is featured in the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art's Open Submission 2026.
