The US economy added 50K jobs for the month of December according to the just released Non-Farm Payrolls report. But the big story is the big downward revisions to prior months, which were considerably larger than the jobs added in December. Yet somehow the unemployment rate dropped during those same months.

Defense stocks sold off yesterday after President Trump torched the military industrial complex for not making investments in expanding production capacity, threatening to limit stock buybacks, dividends, and executive pay.
