  • Is Free Starlink Wi-Fi Enough to Pull Business Travelers Away From Delta?
    Oct 21 2026

Fresh from InteleTravel's European conference in Krakow, No Tourists Allowed hosts Mike Putman and James Ferrara report on Poland, India, Miami and the perks reshaping premium air travel.

Mike Putman and James Ferrara bring a combined 71 years of executive experience in travel and technology. After Krakow, Mike flew on points to India, then Jordan, Rome and Florence; James visited Auschwitz and Birkenau, flew home in Lufthansa's new first-class cabin, and went on to Miami.

They cover why Krakow has become a crowded European city break, and why a quick tuk-tuk tour should be followed by a walk, with VoiceMap's self-guided GPS tours as their pick. Mike explains how Seats.aero found him a business-class seat on a transformed Air India and a 42,000-point flight from Amman to Rome on Royal Jordanian. And the hosts weigh whether free Starlink Wi-Fi on United and American could cost Delta business travelers, as lounge networks expand to fight overcrowding.

  • Why Your Hotel Room Isn't Ready Until 4 PM, and Other Travel Questions Answered
    Aug 13 2026

No Tourists Allowed is trying something new. Instead of the usual format, Mike and James are opening up the mailbag and working through the questions, thoughts, and complaints listeners have been sending in. The premise is simple: two guys with decades in the travel industry explaining why things work the way they do, and what they would actually do in your situation.

This episode covers the 4 PM check-in problem and why a three-night stay doesn't really get you three full nights, plus how Las Vegas turned early arrivals into a revenue stream. Mike and James dig into minimum connection times and who actually sets them (hint: it isn't a government agency), whether booking two separate tickets to save a few hundred dollars is worth the risk, and what to do when a crew strike cancels your flight and the hold time is measured in hours. They also disagree productively on convention hotels, with James happy to stay a few miles away and Mike admitting he would now pay 200 euros just for a midday nap.

The episode closes with a story from that morning: a group arriving for a birthday celebration only to find the hotel had no record of their prepaid, confirmed reservation. James walks through how those supply chain failures happen, why getting your money back is the easy part, and what travelers can do about the stress and lost time that no refund covers. Have a question, a situation, or even a good story? Send it in at NoTouristsAllowed.com and it might get featured on a future episode.

  • Merger Talks, Low Rivers, and Lounge Wars: The State of Travel Right Now
    Aug 5 2026

The Wall Street Journal broke the story that United CEO Scott Kirby called Delta's Ed Bastian to float a merger between the two carriers, and that the call came before United's rejected pitch to American. Mike and James dig into what was really going on there, whether a mega-carrier could help U.S. airlines compete against government-subsidized international rivals, and what happens to fares and secondary airports when competition shrinks. They also look at the Allegiant and Sun Country merger, the loss of Spirit, and why the three highest-volume airlines on the planet are all American.

Then the conversation heads to Europe, where wildfires in Spain and France are making headlines and low water on the Danube and Rhine is forcing river cruise lines to bus passengers between ports. James shares a genuinely useful piece of insider advice for anyone with a river cruise booked or planned: the size of the cruise line's fleet matters more than almost anything else when water levels drop, because only the larger operators can move you to a mirror-image ship downstream instead of canceling your trip outright.

The guys close out with the escalating airport lounge arms race, including crowded Centurion lounges and Southwest's new partnership with Chase to build co-branded lounges, plus the busiest day in commercial aviation history on July 23rd with more than 153,000 flights worldwide. Add in Edinburgh's new visitor tax and airfares up 25 to 50 percent year over year, and the takeaway is hard to miss. People are traveling anyway, because getting out into the world is something close to a human need.
