  • 79, "Hang out", "Get together" - English expressions about how Americans choose to be together in public
    Dec 7 2025

    Because of cars and homes often surrounded by gardens and grass, Americans don't spend time near each other like people who live in areas with denser housing and more public transportation. In this episode, Goyo discusses how through church activities, kids' sports, and festivals, Americans still get together to fulfill social needs.

    Where Does Gary Go? - my new children's show on YouTube that teaches English, will be available starting on December 29, 2025!

  • 78, ¡No te desanimes! Mis sugerencias para mejorar tu inglés - episodio en español
    Nov 3 2025

    En este episodio, el Profe Goyo ofrece muchas razones para darte un poco de perdón sobre tu viaje con idiomas. Escucha para aprender de como:

    cometes más errores al principio de conversaciones, y por eso, que siempre se empieza sintiendo ridículo;

    te equivocas cuando hablas fuera de los contextos conocidos, pero también dentro de una situaciones en las cual tienes mucha experiencia;

    usar los momentos avergonzonsos para avanzar tu uso del idioma;

    balancear "practicar" y "estudiar" con "procesar temas de tu gusto."

    Gracias por escuchar. "Where does Gary Go?" empieza ¡dentro de dos meses!

  • 77, Ghosts of the Civil War on Kennesaw Mountain - Empleo un cuento escalofriante para enseñar inglés - Halloween episode
    Oct 6 2025

    In 1864, the US Army was marching towards Atlanta, GA, a major railroad intersection, to defeat the Confederates who had seceded from the US. Blocking their path was Kennesaw Mountain. The federal troops both charged up the mountain and around it to break the lines of the rebel army.

    In 2003, a young man and his friend decide to camp on Kennesaw Mountain because they hear that it might have ghosts. They sneak onto the park site and spend the night. What they see and hear changes them forever.

    Esta historia ficticia usa vocabulario de los fantasmas y la guerra para enseñar inglés. En el episodio, nota estas palabras intermedias y sus traducciones:

  • 76, replay of last Halloween episode!
    Sep 21 2025

    Look for a new Halloween episode on the second Sunday in October! And in December, 2025, search "Where does Gary go?" on Youtube for my new show that teaches beginning English to primary-school children!

    Episode 67:

    Americans love a scary story, and there is plenty of tragedy in the history of some of its towns to promote spirits and phantoms. Where Goyo lives, in Marietta, Georgia, hundreds and hundreds of Union and Rebel bodies lay in the town square, waiting for funerals. Listen to one ghost story based in local folklore about a young married couple doomed to be separated by war.

    Este episodio emplea mucho español a lo largo de la narración. Aprenderás conceptos en inglés de Halloween y también un poco de la historia de nuestra Guerra Civil (1861-1865).
