    In this episode of Nicky World, Nicky examines the July 30, 2026, sidewalk assault in Charlotte’s Dilworth/South End area (East Boulevard) involving Di-Quan Schafar Hunt (also referred to as Dequan or Diquan Hunt). Hunt, who has a lengthy record of arrests in Mecklenburg County—including multiple assaults, domestic-violence-related charges, weapons offenses, and other cases—allegedly punched a woman walking on the sidewalk, knocked her down, stood over her while she was injured, and recorded/posted the incident (and at least one other confrontation with a woman) on social media. He was arrested on August 6, 2026, and faces an assault-with-a-deadly-weapon charge. Nicky argues that this case exemplifies deeper failures in the criminal justice system: progressive policies, soft-on-crime approaches by some judges and prosecutors, repeated releases (including time-served dispositions on prior cases), and the resulting low public trust. She contrasts media and institutional responses based on the races of the parties involved, criticizes the courts more than the police or sheriff, and stresses personal responsibility for self-defense. She advocates carrying less-lethal tools (such as Byrna launchers) as a practical bare minimum and firearms where legally and practically feasible, while noting the broader consequences of voting for policies and officials that prioritize other goals over incapacitation of repeat violent offenders.
