• PODCAST RELAUNCH! "A Life Surrendered" Season 2/Episode 1 Guest: Andrea Kaiser
    Sep 19 2026

Welcome to Season 2 of Not by Sight: Faith in the Valley!

If you’re new here - welcome! Since it’s been a few years since my last episode, I want to re-introduce myself. In 2020, I felt God calling me to start a podcast - a place where He was asking me to “proclaim what the Lord has done” (Psalm 118:17b), and where others could proclaim what He has done in their lives, too. That verse became my starting point because it was the scripture that carried me as my shield and refuge while I fought cancer for a second time in 2015. (You can hear my full story in Season 1, Episode 1.

This theme of walking by faith and not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7) runs throughout the lives of people in the Bible, and it runs through our lives too. Most of us have at least one story where we’ve had to exercise faith in the middle of crisis, with no idea how things would turn out. It’s in those places that faith becomes real - or where we walk away from it altogether.

This podcast is about pressing into Jesus in the middle of uncertainty. You’ll hear stories from people who chose to trust the Lord when life threw them a curveball, when hope was all they had left. It’s choosing faith in the valley.

On this episode, I sit down again with one of my spiritual heroes, Andrea Kaiser. She and her husband, Daniel, are missionaries in Jinja, Uganda, where their mission is to restore families through the power of the gospel. Andrea was orphaned at 14, after surviving the car crash that killed her parents and older sister. (If you haven’t heard her story yet, go back to Season 1, Episode 13 - it’s powerful.) God is using her surrendered, compassionate heart to reach others in the slums of Jinja and beyond.

God is within her, she will not fail. Psalm 46:5 This verse came to mind as I was laying in bed last night thinking about Aya Nickels, the young woman you are going to meet in this episode. God aligned our paths at a thrift store through a beautiful tattoo. The story behind Aya's body art is what led to this episode. • Faith in the Valley of Racism Episode 7 Part 2/Guests: Shirlene Payne, Desiree Dubose, & Allie Thomas
    Jun 19 2020

In light of the tension we are all living in right now, from the Coronavirus threat to protests over racism to political divisions, many of us are overwhelmed by the chaos. Complicating matters even further are the many voices on all of these issues. Some of us are uniting together and some of us are being driven further apart. In Part 2 of "Faith in the Valley of Racism", my goal is to unify us, not divide us. There is no political agenda here - only the act of standing up for what is right and true. On this episode, we're tackling how to confront racism in our interpersonal relationships and the church's role in racial reconciliation. My friends also discuss the changes they believe need to be made within the workplace, the education system and the criminal justice system to weed out racism.
