A proposito di questo titolo

Toronto has always been more than a city—it’s a soundtrack. On this show, Scot Turner and Ivar Hamilton, come together to tell the stories behind the city’s soundtrack. From legendary concerts at Massey Hall and Maple Leaf Gardens to the rise of Queen Street West, MuchMusic, CFNY, and the clubs that shaped generations—this podcast dives deep into the people, places, and sounds that made Toronto a music city.

Part oral history, part backstage pass, and part love letter to the 6ix, this is where Toronto’s music past meets its present—and where fans discover why this city still matters on the world stage.

  • 16 - KEVIN SHEA: This Baby Needs A Home At CHOM!
    Feb 20 2026

Music Milestones YYZ welcomes author and hockey/music veteran Kevin Shea for a wide‑ranging conversation that weaves together Canadian radio, arena rock history, and hockey lore. Kevin traces his path from Windsor radio superfan to record‑label promo rep, Hockey Hall of Fame staffer, author of 22 hockey books (with a 23rd on the way), and creator of Road Hockey to Conquer Cancer, which has raised nearly $33 million. He previews his new passion project: a book on the musical legacy of Maple Leaf Gardens, built from first‑person concert memories.

Kevin and hosts Scot Turner and Ivar Hamilton trade stories about legendary high‑school and arena shows, from Alice Cooper and David Bowie to Blue Rodeo and Nirvana—including Kevin’s infamous diaper stunt to break “Smells Like Teen Spirit” at CHOM-FM in Montreal. We touched on Leafs/Team Canada storylines, CFNY’s Spirit of Radio documentary tour, club culture at RPM, and tributes to recently departed cultural figures.
