  • 71. What the Ocean Taught Me About Fear: Unfiltered Notes from Belize
    Jan 26 2026

What if the thing you're avoiding is exactly where your next breakthrough is hiding?

In this special "on-location" episode, I'm taking you with me to the docks of San Pedro, Belize. This wasn't originally intended to be a podcast episode; it started as a raw voice note to myself. But as I sat by the water—watching a stingray break the surface and processing a powerful day of snorkeling the world's second-largest barrier reef—I realized the lessons I was uncovering were too important not to share.

I'm a beach lover, but I've always been afraid of the ocean. In this episode, I share how I moved through that fear using the concept of "Expanders" and why taking inventory of our risks allows us to take the kind of inspired action that changes everything.

In this episode, we dive into:

    • The Power of Expanders: How to use your own past wins and the expertise of others (like my "badass" diving guide) to expand what you believe is possible.
    • Fear vs. Intuition: How to tell the difference between "reckless" action and "guided" action.
    • Respecting the Flow: The "Law of Nature" and how showing respect to our environment (and our business) ensures we are respected in return.
    • The Beauty on the Other Side: Why the most breathtaking experiences in life and business are often reserved for those willing to get into the water.

Listen closely toward the end. The ocean literally chimes in to punctuate the lesson.

  • 69. Why I Don't Set Goals in January (The Science Behind Wintering)
    Jan 12 2026

In this episode of Modern Latina in Midlife, I'm sharing why I don't jump into "New Year energy" in January and why slowing down during this season has been one of the most supportive practices for my body, mind, and nervous system.

For years, I noticed a clear pattern: after the holidays, my energy drops and my system naturally wants rest, reflection, and simplicity. I used to think this was just personal or tied to my March birthday. Recently, I've learned this rhythm aligns with a concept called wintering, popularized by Wintering.

    In this episode, we cover:

    • What "wintering" means and why it's a natural human cycle
    • Why January is often the hardest time to force change
    • The biological and nervous system reasons winter feels slower
    • Why most New Year's resolutions don't stick
    • How winter supports rest, reflection, and maintenance
    • Why I plan my year in late February instead of January
    • Practical ways to winter well without falling behind

If you've been feeling tired, unmotivated, or out of sync with New Year expectations, this episode will help you understand why and offer a more realistic way forward.

As always, thank you for being here. If this episode resonated, I'd love for you to share it with a friend or leave a review, it helps more women find these conversations.
