This tale from Ireland is often missed, it is often considered a sides hoot of the story of the epic battle of Ventry Bay. But in it lies deep treasure for the soul.
It speaks to the descent triggered by loss and heartbreak, the tumbling into our wild selves as our world shatters around us. And if offers a way back to the world of humans, through love and gentleness.
The initiated masculine shows up not as a warrior but as a poet, a deep lover of soul and of one particular women scored by others for the depth of her feeling.
This story for me is a glimmering gem among the scenes of battle and blood that I offer to you as a refuge for the times when our grief can only be held by the mountains and forests.
I’m curious to know what this tale brings forth in you.
