The Millennial Film Experience, a bi-weekly podcast hosted by Sergio Berrueta and Patrick Raissi, will take a millennial look at film with different themes every month. We are both children of the late 90s and early 200s from Southeast Los Angeles aiming providing a more casual look at movies we loved, movies we hate, or movies we never seen before and share our thoughts with you at home.

Every film that is not overly covered on podcasts like “The Room” or “Salo, or 120 Days of Sodom” is up for grabs to be covered for our show. Themes we are circling around include Summer Blockbusters, Video Game Adaptations, Book to Screen, and director or actor-focused months. If you have a theme you want to explore, let us know by contacting us or commenting new ideas.

"I can't even lie to you, Nikki was writing bangers." - Sergio on Nikki's interpretation of Hansel & Gretel

Gen-Z horror takes over the Millennial Film Experience's Spooktacualr Cinema with the 2026's sleeper hit horror film "Obsession." Hosts Sergio and Patrick recap the modern horror staple with a love for Inde Navarrette's performance and a deep hatred for Bear's sad sack self.

We also discuss good churro deals, get terrified over a brick in a car, praise some dark fairy tale writing, and wax nostalgic about a Los Angeles magic shop.

  • MFE #7 - "Street Fighter" (1994)
    Oct 1 2026

Hey! I'd love to hear your thoughts, send me a voice note.

"This movie sucks and I loved every minute of it." - Sergio on the film's 'so bad, it's good' quality

Host Sergio and Patrick appreciate the important day M. Bison graced our village (or, as he knows it, a Tuesday) in 1994’s “Street Fighter.”

Listen as we discuss the Muscles from Brussels Jean-Claude Van Damme as the very American Guile, wonder how Miklo from “Blood In Blood Out” became Ken Masters, and ponder the the ethics behind using journalism to seek out revenge on a hungry dictator. We also pay tribute to the late great wonderful soul that was Raul Julia.

  • MFE #5 - "Super Mario Bros." (1993)
    Sep 5 2026

Hey! I'd love to hear your thoughts, send me a voice note.

"9/12: Don't Worry About It!" - Patrick upon seeing Koopa Tower as a destroyed World Trade Center

Hosts Sergio and Patrick make their way to Dinohattan (or Dinoburgh as we call it) to bring down President (or King) Koopa in 1993’s “Super Mario Bros.” Listen as the film duo talks about this film being the catalyst for bad video game movies and how it had great dinosaur effects for about two weeks before “Jurassic Park” released. We also bring up the importance of physical media and Patrick's understandable hatred of the song "Walk the Dinosaur."
