Midnight Narrative - Episode 13 - "The Night Shift Tollbooth"

00:00 - Intro

00:19 - I took a night-shift job at an automated toll booth on Route 9. They gave me a list of rules for the cars that don’t have drivers.

Tonight on Midnight Narrative, we drive down a forgotten, overgrown stretch of upstate New York blacktop, where forty-five dollars an hour comes at an unimaginable cost. We follow a desperate man taking a late-night job at an automated toll plaza cut into the deep woods of Route 9. Handed a strict list of absurd, life-or-death rules—from avoiding mirrors to closing his eyes against horrors in the dark—he quickly discovers the toll booth isn't designed to collect change. It’s a seal designed to keep something vast and ancient trapped beneath the asphalt... and breaking even one rule threatens to unleash it onto the world.
