One man wanders through the remnants of a world he no longer understands. Another discovers that happiness comes only when it is not pursued.

Two strange tales. Two names that would echo throughout weird fiction for generations.

There is no Room 13 at the Golden Lion.

At least, not during the day.

While staying at an old hotel in Viborg, Denmark, Mr. Anderson begins noticing something impossible: a mysterious door marked 13 appearing beside his room after nightfall. Strange shadows move across the walls, an unnatural voice echoes through the corridor, and the dimensions of the surrounding rooms seem to change.

At the same time, Anderson’s historical research uncovers the story of Nicolas Francken, a man once accused of practicing dark and forbidden arts.

Tonight on Midnight Murmurs, enter one of M. R. James’s most unsettling supernatural mysteries: “Number 13.”
