• Joshua 24:16-33 - What Makes Life Worth Living?
    Oct 16 2026

    Send Tim a note

“The days are long and the years are short.” Someone gave us that tidbit of wisdom about raising children and it definitely stuck with me and my wife. The same can be said about life in general. We spend our days doing the next thing in front of us and hoping to make sense of it all. If you’re not careful, life just kind of sails on by and then you’re an old person. So, what was that all about? Listen in as we look at the end of Joshua 24 together.

  • Romans 12:1, 2 - If It's True, What Do We Do?
    Oct 15 2026

    Send Tim a note

If all this is true, then what should we do with it? That’s essentially the question Paul is answering as he writes the second part of his letter to the Roman believers. He’s talked a lot about God, about righteousness and grace, about the Spirit and about the mysteries of God’s promise that extends beyond the Jews to the rest of us. So… what do we do about all of this? How does it change our lives as Jesus-followers? We’re in Romans 12:1, 2, the part of Paul’s letter where he offers practical instruction in light of God’s mercy.

  • Genesis 37 - Did He Say That Out loud?
    Oct 14 2026

    Send Tim a note

Have you ever said something to someone and later found out that they were deeply offended by it? You had one of those cases where you crossed a line you didn’t know was there until you crossed it. It can be pretty hard to talk someone down from their anger when you were the one that caused it even if you did it unintentionally. The intensity of people’s reactions can be hard to predict. We’re in Genesis 37, the part of the story when Joseph shares his dreams and angers his brothers.

  • Matthew 11:20-24 - When Jesus Got Direct
    Oct 13 2026

    Send Tim a note

Most of us want to believe that we’re okay. Sure, we’ve had lapses in judgment or even a dark period but in general, we’ve navigated life pretty well and contributed to society. It’s hard, then, for us to hear a word that challenges that idea. It’s especially difficult when that correction comes from someone we thought generally agreed that we were doing okie dokie. We’re in Matthew 11:20-24, the part of the story where Jesus denounces towns where his friends lived.

  • Psalm 37 - Seriously, Don't Fret!
    Oct 12 2026

Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. ~ Proverbs 3:5, 6.

That’s another one of those verses people get framed or put on journal covers. So many of us recognize it or even memorized it, and yet, what does it look like to live that out on the daily? We’re in Psalm 37 today and in many ways, it echoes and amplifies Proverbs 3:5, 6.

  • Joshua 24:14, 15 - What Inspires You?
    Oct 9 2026

Have you ever read the Man in the Arena? It’s an inspiring quote from a speech Theodore Roosevelt gave way back in 1910. Even though that was well over a hundred years ago, people still feel the impact of his words today. It makes me wonder why some moments echo forward and others simply fade out. Our passage today was written thousands of years before Teddy’s speech but it has much the same effect. It’s a call to completely devote ourselves to the LORD. We’re in Joshua 24:14,15, the part of Joshua’s farewell speech where he challenges the Israelites to follow his own example.

  • Romans 11:33-36 - How Do You Understand God?
    Oct 8 2026

    Send Tim a note

Did you know that your particular view of God has an incredible impact on your quality of life and mental health? Studies show that our perception of God is critical in forming the way we navigate life, view ourselves, and treat others. Of course, the thing that matters most is who God actually is but even then, if our understanding is skewed we’ll have a much harder time with life. For example, if you believe God is quick to punish, that’s going to shape you. If you believe God is quick to forgive, that will also shape you.

We’re at the end of Romans chapter 11, the part of his letter where Paul takes a moment to exhale and give glory to God. In doing so, he shows us his view of God which is breathtaking, life-shaping, and most importantly, it’s true.

    Oct 7 2026

How close do you live to your siblings? And… are you glad that they live as close or as far away as they do? If you’ve been tracking with me, you may have peeked ahead and realized that this is a chapter of names. I’ll keep our time together a little shorter today but there are two observations I wanted to make sure to share with you. Yes, they have to do with brothers.
