MII: WEIGHT LOSS: RESOLUTIONS, TIPS, TRUTHS & REAL OPTIONS
“Is your body broken?”
“Does my scale lie?
“Why can’t I stop eating?”
Well, “Your body isn’t broken,”
“The scale does lie,” and you need to
“Stop blaming yourself!”
Good afternoon, and welcome.
I’m Dr. Gloria Warren, Medical Intuitive, Epidemiologist, and Integrative Educator. Today, we are talking about weight loss, but not the way you’ve been taught to think about it.
This is not a diet show…. This is not a willpower lecture….And this is certainly not about shame.
Today is about truth, biology, compassion, and real options, because if weight loss were simply about discipline, none of you would still be struggling.
Furthermore, I will reveal the 10 MYTHS & FACTS about weight loss and explain why they are not true.
MYTH 1: Weight loss is about willpower
FACT: Weight loss is driven by biology, hormones, metabolism, stress, sleep, and nervous system regulation. Willpower cannot override insulin resistance, cortisol overload, thyroid imbalance, or chronic inflammation.
SEGMENT 1: WHY WEIGHT LOSS IS NOT ABOUT WILLPOWER
Let’s begin by clearing up one of the most damaging myths in modern health culture:
That weight loss is a personal failure when it doesn’t work.
Your weight is influenced by:
• Hormones like insulin, cortisol, thyroid hormones, estrogen, and testosterone
• Chronic stress and trauma
• Sleep deprivation
• Medications
• Inflammation
• Gut health
• Nervous system overload
When the body feels unsafe, depleted, or stressed, it stores weight.
That’s not weakness-- that’s survival biology.
MYTH 2: Eating less always leads to weight loss
FACT: Chronic undereating slows metabolism and signals the body to store fat for survival.
A nourished body releases weight more readily than a deprived one.
Many of you have done everything “right”:
• You’ve eaten less
• Exercised more
• Tried program after program
And yet your body held on.
That’s not resistance.
That’s protection.
