The Better Brand is a brand strategy and marketing podcast for Christian women entrepreneurs and Christian female founders who want a business that's easy to find, easy to trust, and impossible to confuse with anyone else's. Hosted by brand strategist and Showit website designer Jan Touchberry, this show covers what it actually takes to build a better brand — sharper positioning, a website that converts, and marketing that doesn't depend on social media. A better brand isn't something you finish. It's something you keep choosing — in the words on your homepage, the way you talk about your offer, the client you say yes to and the one you don't. Every week, get practical strategy on brand strategy, website conversion, SEO, and marketing for Christian entrepreneurs at whatever stage your business is in. Faith runs through the conversation because it runs through the work. This podcast will answer questions like: How do I know if my brand needs a refresh or a full rebrand? What actually makes a website convert visitors into clients? How do I position myself as the go-to expert in my industry? How do I market my business without living on Instagram? What's the difference between SEO and AEO, and why does it matter now? What makes a brand feel premium instead of homemade? How does my faith shape the way I actually run my business? Whether you're refining what you've already built or rethinking it from scratch, this is where you'll find the next right decision — not a finish line. New episodes every week.© 2026 Marketing Without Socials Economia Gestione e leadership Leadership Marketing Marketing e vendite
  • 142: How to Plan 2027 for Your Business in One Afternoon
    Oct 28 2026

Most of us start January with a planner full of goals and no idea how many clients it actually takes to hit them. This year, you can skip the forty-slide vision deck. In about twenty minutes, I’ll walk you through a 2027 business planning process that fits on one page. It’s simple enough to finish in an afternoon and specific enough that you’ll still be using it in March.

We’ll look back at what actually made you money in 2026. Then we’ll turn your revenue goal into a number of calls you can book each month, and give every quarter one project that moves you toward it. If you’ve ever set a big goal and then had no idea what to do on a random Tuesday in April, this one’s for you.

    What you’ll learn

    • The three questions to answer about 2026 before you plan anything new, including the one most business owners skip
    • How a $120,000 goal becomes four sales calls a month, with simple math you can do on a napkin
    • Why your best marketing channel is wherever your clients already came from, and how to work referrals on purpose
    • The four levers every revenue project should move, and why a price increase in Q1 can cut your client load
    • How to make room for a long-game project, like a podcast or a course, without letting it eat the work that pays the bills
    • A three-question brand and website check to make sure your site can carry the plan you just made

Don’t let this episode turn into one more thing you meant to do. Download the free 2027 Planning Guide at jantouchberry.com/planning, block off one afternoon this week, and walk through each step with the worksheets. You’ll have your plan finished before the holidays take over your calendar.

  • 141: How to Build an Email Funnel That Sells, with Allison Hardy
    Oct 21 2026
Six months pregnant, Allison Hardy got called into HR and lost her job as a tenure-track college art professor. The business she built after that layoff runs on email, and today she teaches founders an email funnel strategy that sells their offers while they’re busy serving clients. If you have a few hundred people on your list and haven’t written to them in months, this conversation will have you opening a blank email before it’s over.Allison and I met at a podcasting conference, where I signed up for her membership on my phone halfway through her breakout session. We talk about why email still outperforms social media for reach, what belongs in a funnel versus your regular mailing list, how she uses AI to write email sequences without flattening your voice, and the online business trends she’s watching for 2027.What You’ll LearnWhy a 20% open rate on a list of 1,000 puts your message in front of more people than 1,000 Instagram followers will (and why Allison’s clients often see 40 to 50%)The two buckets of email marketing and what each one is supposed to doHow to map the gaps between someone downloading your freebie and being ready to hear your pitchWhy a subscriber going through the same funnel three times before buying is perfectly normalWhat AI can do for your email copy, and what to feed it so the output still sounds like youEmail Funnel Strategy HighlightsTimestamps are estimates from the raw recording. • 140: How to Use AI Without Losing Your Brand Voice
    Oct 14 2026
If you’ve started deleting emails based on the subject line alone, or rolled your eyes at one more podcast guest who’s “diving in,” you’re not imagining it. AI is flattening how brands sound, and your audience notices. In this episode of The Better Brand, Jan Touchberry walks Christian entrepreneurs through the exact workflow she uses to keep her brand voice in everything she writes with AI, plus what to do when ChatGPT hands you a two-page list of “fixes” for your business. This is not an anti-AI episode. Jan uses it every week. She just refuses to let it write her out of her own business. What you’ll learnWhy AI tools default to average, and why that makes your emails sound like everyone else’sWhat the research says about AI-assisted writing and consumer trust (the numbers are hard to ignore)Jan’s five-step workflow for using AI without handing over your brand voiceHow to question an AI diagnosis of your website, SEO, or analytics before you act on itThe “ownership pass” and “competitor test” every piece of copy should go through before it goes outEpisode highlights(Timestamps are estimates from the raw recording. Start with a voice memo or scratch paper so your opinions and odd specific details are on the page before AI touches anything. Use AI as a thinking partner that asks you questions, require it to cite sources and admit when it’s guessing, and ask it to tighten your draft without adding anything you didn’t say. Then read the final version out loud, cut anything you’d never say to a client, and put back one detail no one else could have written.Should you trust AI’s advice about your website or SEO?Treat it as a list of questions for your expert, never a list of instructions. Ask the tool what it can’t see, have it rank recommendations by confidence, and make it argue the case that its advice is wrong for your business. Then verify one item with a real source before acting on the rest.Pull quote“Discernment was never meant to be outsourced, and you’re the one who gets to do the testing, friend.”Resources mentionedEpisode 134 on timbre and brand voice: [link]Doshi & Hauser, “Generative AI enhances individual creativity but reduces the collective diversity of novel content,” Science Advances (2024): https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC11244532Gartner consumer survey on AI-generated content, September 2026: https://www.gartner.com/en/newsroom/press-releases/2026-09-22-gartner-marketing-survuey-finds-35-percent-of-consumers-rely-on-influencers-less-due-to-aiKinsta consumer survey on AI and trust, September 2026: https://kinsta.com/?p=219401MIT Media Lab, “Your Brain on ChatGPT” (preprint): [link]1 Thessalonians 5:21Find out where your brand standsIf this episode made you wonder whether your own copy has drifted toward sounding like everyone else, take the free Brand Audit Scorecard at jantouchberry.com/scorecard.
