What Else Could This Look Like?

How often do we decide that something has to be a certain way, without ever considering that there might be other possibilities?

A growing business must mean more work.

More money must mean more responsibility.

A beautiful home must mean endless maintenance.

More connection must mean less time for ourselves.

But what if those are simply the versions we've imagined?

In this Thoughtful Thursday reflection, Michelle explores the surprisingly powerful question:

What else could this look like?

Following on from our exploration of the hidden package deals we attach to our desires, this episode invites us to notice how easily we mistake our assumptions for reality.

Through examples including her imaginary castle, business growth and creating meaningful experiences with the people we love, Michelle considers how asking a genuinely open question can create space for possibilities we haven't yet imagined.

What if growth and freedom don't have to be opposites?

What if the structure itself could change, rather than simply finding better ways to manage what we've already created?

And what if we didn't have to find an answer at all?

This isn't about positive thinking, solving problems or forcing ourselves to come up with clever alternatives.

It's simply about becoming a little less certain that things have to be the way we've always assumed.

Perhaps possibility begins with the question itself.

  • What Have I Decided Has to Come With What I Desire?
    Oct 26 2026

What Have I Decided Has to Come With What I Desire?

Have you ever thought about something you'd absolutely love to have or experience, only to immediately follow it with a "yes, but..."?

I'd love a beautiful home, but imagine the maintenance.

I'd love more money, but that would mean working harder.

I'd love a successful business, but I'd have even more responsibility.

What if those things don't necessarily have to come together?

In this Thoughtful Thursday reflection, Michelle explores the hidden conditions, assumptions and obligations we attach to the things we desire.

Using her dream of owning a castle, she looks at how something that initially feels wonderful can quickly become an overwhelming package of responsibilities — and what happens when we question whether those responsibilities are inevitable.

She also shares a personal story about imagining an African safari with her mum, and discovering how easily we can confuse the particular form of an experience with what we actually desire underneath it.

Sometimes we're not saying no to our desires. We're saying no to the package we've attached to them.

And sometimes, when one particular version of a dream doesn't work out, we accidentally abandon the deeper desire as well.

What if we could begin unpacking those assumptions?

What if the thing you desire doesn't have to arrive in the way you've always imagined?

This isn't about solving anything, making plans or talking yourself out of what you love.

It's simply an invitation to notice the "yes, but..." moments and get curious about what else might be possible.

  • What Have I Desired That I Stopped Acknowledging?
    Oct 25 2026

What Have I Desired That I Stopped Acknowledging?

What happened to the dreams you once had that seemed too big, too impractical or simply impossible?

Perhaps you dreamed of living in a castle, wearing an extraordinary evening gown, travelling the world, creating something beautiful or living a completely different kind of life.

Somewhere along the way, we often learn to dismiss those desires. They're unrealistic. Too expensive. Too extravagant. Not sensible.

And eventually, we may stop acknowledging them altogether.

In this Thoughtful Thursday reflection, Michelle explores what happens when we allow ourselves to revisit those forgotten desires, without needing to make them happen.

Using her own dreams of living in a castle and wearing a magnificent evening gown, she considers what those desires reveal about the experiences and qualities that bring us alive.

Beauty. Grandeur. Freedom. Elegance. Adventure. Celebration. Possibility.

And importantly, exploring what lies underneath a desire doesn't mean giving up the original dream or settling for something smaller.

    Perhaps there's room for both.

What if you could simply acknowledge something you've desired, without judging whether it's possible or deciding what to do about it?

What might that reveal about you and the life you'd love living?

  • What Would I Love More Of?
    Oct 24 2026

What Would I Love More Of?

What if creating a life you love living began by noticing the things you already enjoy — and allowing yourself to imagine more of them?

More laughter. More ease. More creativity. More money. More adventure. More connection. More moments when life simply feels good.

In this Thoughtful Thursday reflection, Michelle explores a deceptively simple question: What would I love more of?

There's something lovely about the words "more of". They suggest you've already experienced a little of whatever it is. Perhaps a fleeting moment of freedom, a beautiful conversation, an afternoon of creativity or the pleasure of having enough.

And what if you could acknowledge that you'd love more, without immediately questioning whether it's realistic, how you'll achieve it or whether you deserve it?

This isn't about making plans, setting goals or creating another to-do list.

It's an invitation to dream a little, starting with the things that already make your life feel more alive.

What have you already experienced that you'd genuinely love more of?

And what might become possible if you simply allowed yourself to acknowledge it?

  • What Do I Recognise as Me — and What Isn’t?
    Oct 23 2026

What Do I Recognise as Me — and What Isn’t?

How much of what you believe about yourself is actually you, and how much is simply a collection of labels, roles and expectations you've carried through life?

I'm shy. I'm responsible. I'm difficult. I'm not creative. I'm the one everybody relies on.

Some of these descriptions may be true. Some may have been true once. And others may have come from people or experiences that shaped how you began to see yourself.

In this Thoughtful Thursday reflection, Michelle explores the difference between who we are, what we've learned to do, and the identities we've become accustomed to carrying.

We also look at something rather interesting: the qualities we refuse to acknowledge in ourselves. Why can it be so easy to hold onto criticism while dismissing the things that make us wonderful?

What if you could become curious about the person you actually are today, without needing to reject your past, change your personality or arrive at a final definition of yourself?

Perhaps there's something beautifully freeing about recognising:

    Yes. That's me.

And perhaps some other things aren't quite as much you as you've always believed.

  • What Am I Enjoying Right Now?
    Oct 22 2026

What Am I Enjoying Right Now?

What is making you smile lately? What parts of your life are already quietly good?

We can become so skilled at noticing what's missing, difficult or unfinished that we overlook the everyday moments that make life enjoyable.

The first sip of coffee. A conversation that makes you laugh. Time spent creating something. A moment of peace. The simple pleasure of doing something because you love it.

In this Thoughtful Thursday reflection, Michelle explores the question: What am I enjoying right now?

We look at how enjoyment can tell us something about who we are, what matters to us and what is already working in our lives.

And we explore another interesting possibility: What if enjoyment didn't have to be earned, justified or turned into something productive?

Perhaps it's enough to simply notice what makes life feel good and allow those moments to count.

  • What Am I Noticing?
    Oct 21 2026

    What Am I Noticing?

How much of life do we move through without really acknowledging what we're experiencing?

The things that light us up. The things that drain our energy. The moments when we feel most like ourselves, and the ones when something doesn't quite fit.

In this Thoughtful Thursday reflection, Michelle explores the difference between noticing something and feeling obliged to do something about it.

What if becoming aware of something didn't automatically mean you had to fix it, change it or make a decision?

What if you could simply be curious?

We explore how noticing the little things, recognising patterns and allowing ourselves to acknowledge what's showing up can open the door to greater self-awareness and new possibilities.

No action required. No judgement. Just noticing.
