This episode of The Chamber Does Wut? features Lyle Swartzel of Farmers Union Mutual Fire Insurance Company of Bradley County—a 45-year Chamber member and Vice Chairman of Public Affairs. He gives a behind-the-scenes look at how the Chamber does a lot more than networking, including hosting candidate forums, community conversations, and providing direct access to local leaders (sometimes as simple as grabbing coffee with your commissioner).
The conversation focuses on the importance of local elections—the ones people tend to overlook but that actually impacts daily life the most. From schools to taxes to community services, these decisions happen close to home. And while turnout can be surprisingly low, some races are decided by just a handful of votes…meaning your vote really can make the difference.
It’s an informative and down-to-earth conversation with a simple takeaway: stay informed, get involved, and when it’s time—go vote. Your community will thank you.
