  • Live in the Salon with Benita and Rita "Black Women are Exhausted"
    Sep 30 2026

What happens when being “strong” starts to feel like another burden?

In this episode of Live in the Salon, Benita and Rita have a candid conversation about the exhaustion many Black women are carrying. From the hope and energy invested in Kamala Harris’s presidential campaign—and the disappointment that followed—to the economic uncertainty created by massive federal workforce cuts, the conversation explores what it feels like to keep showing up, producing, caring for others and smiling through it all.

The economic impact is more than abstract. Black women have been particularly vulnerable to the recent contraction of the federal workforce, an institution that has historically provided an important pathway to stability and the Black middle class.

But this conversation goes deeper than politics or jobs.

Benita and Rita ask a more uncomfortable question: How do we contribute to our own exhaustion?

How much of our fatigue comes from feeling responsible for everyone? From being the dependable one? From believing we always have to be strong? And what would happen if Black women gave themselves permission to put some of it down?

There are no easy answers in the Salon—just an honest conversation between two Black women from different generations asking a question that many women may recognize:

We know how to survive. But must we always have to?

  • Live in the Salon with Benita and Rita with Special Guest and Prostate Health Advocate Lamont Mitchell
    Sep 22 2026

Absolutely. That makes the description more powerful because Lamont isn’t simply advocating for prostate health—he’s speaking from his own experience with a Stage 3 prostate cancer diagnosis.

In this special Prostate Health edition of Live in the Salon, Benita sits down with Washington, DC–based Prostate Health Advocate Lamont Mitchell for an honest and important conversation about men, health, awareness, and the power of speaking up.

For Lamont, this work is deeply personal. He shares his own journey of being diagnosed with Stage 3 prostate cancer and how that life-changing experience ultimately led him to become an advocate for prostate health. He opens up about his diagnosis, what he learned along the way, and why he now uses his voice to encourage other men to pay attention to their bodies, get screened, ask questions, and take an active role in their health.

Together, Benita and Lamont discuss why conversations about prostate health can be difficult—particularly for men who may delay screenings, avoid talking about their health, or simply don’t know what questions to ask. They also explore the importance of early detection, self-advocacy, and creating safe spaces where men can talk honestly about their health, fears, and experiences.

This conversation goes beyond statistics. It’s about the men we love—our fathers, brothers, husbands, partners, sons, and friends—and the importance of encouraging them to take their health seriously.

Lamont’s story is a reminder that silence doesn’t protect us, but knowledge, conversation, and action can empower us.

Listen. Share. Start the conversation. And encourage a man you love to prioritize his prostate health.

  • Live in the Salon with Benita and Rita - Just The Two of Us
    Aug 24 2026

Sometimes the most meaningful conversations happen when it's just the two of us.

In this episode of Live in the Salon with Benita & Rita, we sit down for an honest conversation about health, getting older, paying attention to our bodies, and the stories we carry with us along the way.

We talk about why health conversations matter—not just the diagnoses, doctor visits and numbers, but the experiences behind them. What did we learn? What did we ignore? What do we wish someone had told us sooner? And what can someone else learn from the road we've already traveled?

But this conversation becomes about something even bigger: legacy.

Legacy isn't only what we leave behind. It's also what we're willing to share while we're still here. Our stories—about our health, our families, our choices, our mistakes, our triumphs and even the things we survived—can become roadmaps for the people coming behind us.

So pull up a chair and join us in the Salon. This one is personal, reflective and filled with the kind of conversation we believe families need to have more often.

Because sometimes sharing your story isn't just remembering where you've been.

It's leaving something behind that can help someone else find their way.

  • Live in the Salon with Benita and Rita with Special Guests Devin and Allen George
    Aug 12 2026

The Future of NASCAR Is in the House!

We had the pleasure of welcoming rising NASCAR talent Devin George into the Salon, along with his father, Allen, for a conversation about speed, sacrifice, determination, and the road to becoming NASCAR's next big star.

Devin has the skill. He has the grit. He has the drive—literally and figuratively. But as Devin and Allen shared with us, making it in motorsports takes far more than talent behind the wheel. Behind every race are countless hours of preparation, an incredible support system, and the very real financial investment required to compete at the next level.

We got a behind-the-scenes look at Devin's journey, the sacrifices his family has made, and just how close he is to turning a lifelong dream into reality.

This is more than a story about racing. It's about a young man pursuing something extraordinary—and a father doing everything he can to help him get there.

Listen to Devin's story. Follow his journey. Share it with someone who should know his name. And if you're in a position to support or sponsor this rising star, this just might be your opportunity to get on board before the rest of the world discovers him.

    Remember the name: Devin George.
