What does it truly mean to live as a child of the light in a world that grows darker by the day?
Ephesians 4 starting at verse 17 cuts straight to the heart of that question, and the answer might be more challenging than we expect. Paul does not simply warn us to watch out for the ways of the world. He calls us out directly, urging us to stop living like those who are hopelessly confused, hardened in heart, and wandering far from the life God offers.
The sobering truth is that the church is not immune to conformity. We can drift into passivity, silence our convictions to avoid conflict, and slowly absorb the standards of the culture around us without even realizing it.
The call here is urgent and authoritative: throw off the old sinful nature, let the Spirit renew our minds, and put on the new nature created to reflect God's righteousness and holiness. Romans 12:2 echoes this same truth, reminding us that transformation comes not through willpower alone but through the daily renewing of our thinking.
This message challenges us to examine where we have been quietly conforming and invites us to step boldly back onto solid ground.
