  • It's Not Too Late to Start a TAUW Workplace Campaign -- Even in a Pandemic -- featuring Alex Eaton of World Travel Service
    Nov 2 2021

Jane Mudgett, our guest host for today, interviews her longtime friend Alex Eaton, President and Owner of World Travel Service.

Together they talk about the trials and tribulations of operating a travel service in a pandemic. Alex also shares why it's so important for any business to run a TAUW workplace campaign no matter how big or small it must be.

It's not too late to join us this year and run your first campaign!

A Tulsa Area United Way workplace campaign unites employees in all offices or branches of a company, and gives them an opportunity to donate, volunteer and speak out for causes that matter to them. Build a stronger workplace while you contribute to building a stronger community.

Thank you to all of our companies who ran a campaign for the first time ever this year. Visit tauw.org/campaigns to join them and start #LivingUnited!

  • KIPP Tulsa's Darius Kirk
    Oct 28 2021

From the nonprofit Tulsa Area United Way, this is the weekly Live United podcasts. Our guest is Darius Kirk, who serves as executive director of KIPP Tulsa Public Charter Schools, which is a proud Tulsa Area United Way partner agency.

So together with families and communities, KIPP Tulsa identifies Tulsa Public Schools students who are least likely to earn a college degree, and then provides the college preparatory education and support required to earn one. And so that means offering reading and math intervention and homework support. It also means extracurricular activities, including athletics, robotics and, of course, the renowned KIPP Tulsa Drum Line.

In addition, KIPP is providing robust support for social, emotional learning and an identity-affirming and culturally relevant learning environment for the more than 90% of students who identify as Black or Latinx.
