  • The Story Behind Father Jim Sichko’s Rare Gift to Pope Francis
    Oct 25 2026
Father Jim Sichko isn't a bourbon drinker, but as a Kentucky native he made the unique and thoughtful choice to gift Pope Francis a bottle of his state's iconic bourbon. A viral photo of the moment led distilleries across the country to send him bottle after bottle for the Pontiff and in 2024, Pope Francis signed two rare bottles of ten-year-old Willett Bourbon—one of which is now up for auction at Unicorn Auctions to raise money for charity. On this episode of the Lighthouse Faith podcast, Father Sichko—whom Dolly Parton once called "the best opening act ever"—and Unicorn Auctions CEO Phil Mikhaylov discuss how this signed bottle came to auction and inspired an explosion of simple acts of kindness. • What's Next For Pope Leo XIV's Papacy?
    Oct 18 2026
Pope Leo XIV is on the road to healing after his cancer surgery this week, but the sudden lung cancer diagnosis raises questions about the future of his papacy. Elected at just 69 in 2025, the first American Bishop of Rome was expected to have a much longer tenure than his predecessors. Fresh off a grueling pilgrimage to France and still scheduled for an 11-day trip to South America, does this show his resilience... or a sense of urgency before time runs out? On this episode of Lighthouse Faith, papal biographer Elise Ann Allen shares her thoughts on the pope's first major health crisis. Having interviewed him for Pope Leo XIV: The Biography, Elise reveals what the man is like beyond the papal mystique—and looks back to Lourdes, France, where Pope Leo drank from the miraculous spring water at the Grotto of Massabielle, wondering what he knew about his health even then. • Catholic Massachusetts Family Battling state authorities to get Daughter back After School began to secretly transition her without their knowledge and Removed Her from home
    Sep 13 2026
It is a family's worst nightmare. Devout Catholic parents are fighting in court to regain custody of their 17-year-old daughter, Sophie, and stop Massachusetts authorities from medically transitioning her with high-dose testosterone. In December 2024, the Department of Children and Families (DCF) removed the then 15-year-old from her home because her parents, Joseph and Arlene Kutzko, would not recognize their daughter as a boy due to their faith—an identity change they allege staff at Algonquin Regional High School initiated in secret. Although physical abuse claims against Joseph were deemed unfounded, a permanent restraining order was issued against the family, and DCF cut off contact after the Kutzkos would not call Sophie by a male name or pronouns. Appearing on the Lighthouse Faith podcast alongside attorney Vernadette Broyles, the devastated parents exposed how DCF has housed their daughter in a boys' dormitory, stripped away her Catholic faith by denying her Sunday Mass, and put her on birth control and psychiatric drugs. As the family fights DCF's court attempt to administer testosterone and demands a full psychological evaluation for Sophie, Broyles is pushing Congress to ensure no loving parent's refusal to transition a child is ever branded as "child abuse."
