Step into the whimsical world of Just So Stories, a collection of enchanting tales first published in 1902 that explain the origins of various natural phenomena. Illustrated with charming woodcuts by Rudyard Kipling himself, each story is paired with a delightful poem, written in a captivating ballad style. Addressed to “Best Beloved,” these narratives were originally crafted for Kipling’s beloved daughter, Josephine, who tragically passed away from influenza in 1899. With their comically elevated language, inspired by the formal speech of India, these stories are filled with quirky, imaginative words that make them a joy to read aloud and easy to memorize. While they have been recorded countless times, I wanted to relish the pleasure of bringing these wonderful words to life myself. Join me for some fun! (Summary from Wikipedia)
