After more than two years away, the Let It Ride Podcast is officially back.

In this episode, we finally explain where we've been and why the podcast disappeared.

What started as a conversation about old podcast memories quickly turned into an honest look at one of the toughest chapters in The Longhairs' history. We talk about:

• Why the podcast went silent

• What happened after The Great Cut

• Business decisions that almost sank the company

• The costly lessons from launching our expanded hair care line

• Why we abandoned aluminum bottles and returned to PCR packaging

• How we're rebuilding the business—and what comes next

We also look back on some of our favorite moments from 136 episodes, the incredible guests we've had over the years, and why this new version of Let It Ride will be different moving forward.

If you've been with us from the beginning—or you're just discovering The Longhairs—this is the episode that catches you up on everything.

Welcome back.

If you were at The Great Cut, you will recognize Alan Tran as the man with a full-body video apparatus hustling around filming and hammering coffee for about 14 hours.

If you weren’t there you can thank Alan for capturing the powerful and emotional moments beautifully portrayed in episode 9 of our docuseries on The Great Cut, Record-Breaking Success.

Alan was among the very last at the venue, a man who stayed until it was all over, and who since The Great Cut has dutifully grown a long, silky, perfectly straight, extremely well-cared-for rich dark mane, which he intends to donate in 2024.

Just returned from France, Alan Tran was part of the team who created ‘WWII Vets Return to Normandy: An Emotional Journey 79 Years After D-Day.’

The touching footage in this short film highlights the camaraderie among 43 veterans as they reunite on the hallowed grounds where they once fought side by side—many of them returning to Normandy for the first time in 79 years.

You’ll hear about his desire to serve, the depth of his gratitude, and his remarkable experience filming The Greatest Generation, when you listen to Alan Tran on Let It Ride.

What you'll hear about:

1. Filming in Normandy and the local significance of D-Day.
2. The last living veterans of The Greatest Generation.
3. A marathon day at The Great Cut.
4. His very particular hair care regimen.
5. How much he’s donating in 2024.

Art Informs All

From “special” classes in high school all the way to the top of Foot Locker, art has been the common thread through the ever-evolving career of Gary Harper. A performer, sign painter and death-defying fine artist, he can't seem to shake the hold art has on his life.

This lifelong enthrallment has taken him from a dyslexic sibling of seven in a chaotic household, to sitting across from the president of Nike—and telling him to shove it. But that was only the beginning of an illustrious career as an advertising executive.

Death Can Wait

His exploits in the boardroom might have never happened though. In an accident in his youth, Gary drowned and was actually deceased for a period…only to return from “the other side.”

In his recollection it was “the best;” and he tried to bring that energy back with him, that he might communicate the feeling through his art. We’ll let him tell the rest of that story on episode 130 of Let It Ride.

What you'll hear about:
-Performing theater…in the nude
-Living in a commune
-Climbing the ranks at Foot Locker
-Drowning…and coming back
-Sticking it to Nike
-Conquering fear, uncertainty and doubt

Imagine getting triangle-choked by a guy with magnificent hair. On this episode of Let It Ride El Sicario sits down with Chris Lucas, a personal friend and brown belt who’s not afraid to roll with his long hair in jiu jitsu.

A long-haired jiujiteiro, former combat medic, father and husband, it’s safe to say he’s a man of many disciplines. In this profoundly genuine conversation, Chris Lucas opens up on the importance of finding a community, always striving to be your best self, and how long hair and jiu jitsu indelibly changed his life.

What you'll hear about:
-Being a combat medic in Iraq
-Cultivating a fulfilling life after the military
-The nuances of raising a son
-Having long hair in jiu jitsu
