Jesus steps onto the far shore of Galilee—the old land of Bashan—and a man runs out of the tombs. The town chained him. The spirits broke the shackles. Then one sentence empties the host.
This is Mark 5 on the ground that Israel called death country: Og, the Rephaim, Mount Hermon, graves in the cliff, swine on Gentile soil. The spirits name Him Son of the Most High, beg not to be sent into the abyss, and ask to stay in the country. He lets them take the pigs. The herd hits the water. The man sits clothed and in his right mind.
We walk the landing, the possession spectrum, why “Legion” is a military word, what the Watchers tradition says about homeless spirits, and why Jesus leaves the delivered man behind as the first preacher in the Decapolis.
