A closer look at bilingual, globally focused education in San Francisco. In this episode of The Bay Insider, Amanda Martin and Ying He sit down with Federica Lentini, the Assistant Head of School at La Scuola International School, for a closer look at one of San Francisco’s more distinctive bilingual programs. What began as a small, parent-led Italian language group has grown into a pre-K through 8th grade community serving nearly 400 students.
They talk about the school’s Reggio Emilia roots, its International Baccalaureate framework, and how Italian–English immersion actually works across grade levels. It’s a thoughtful conversation about bilingual education, progressive learning, and why families from a wide range of backgrounds are drawn to this model.
