    Welcome back, Lily, as an interviewer. Our guest this week had a previous addiction to alcohol and started taking kratom powder capsules about 5 years ago. Eventually, he switched over to kava-kratom tonics and began abusing prescription ADHD medications alongside kratom. Quitting with the help of an intensive outpatient treatment program and twelve-step meetings, he was also aided by suboxone, which he has tapered down to 3 mg at the time of the interview.

    Sorry for the delay in getting this out this week, latest episode ever dropped time wise on a Sunday. Trevor found kratom 20 years ago. An RN, his kratom use got intense about a decade ago. He did the powder, extract, and 7-OH escalation pathway, and tried many quitting methods. Trevor's has been quit since January 2026.

    Lauren returns to interview Steve C., who got addicted to 7-OH after just seven weeks of use. He quit by going to a detox center and doing a one week Suboxone taper from 12mg down to 1mg as an off ramp from the kratom concentrate isolate.

    Lauren and Rocky talk about his 10-year kratom addiction, starting with kratom powder, then to liquid extracts, and ending on 7-OH, like so many in 2026. Off all substances since January 2025, Rocky had many restarts along his path, which required a stint in residential rehab and sober living along with MOUD injection. Rocky had a previous history of addiction, but kratom wasn't the solution to his substance abuse challenges, and at several points during his decade using kratom, he also became addicted to cocaine and Adderall.
