  • Bigfork’s Tamret Savik breaks 48-Year State Record at Class A Track Championships
    Jun 16 2026

Bigfork’s Tamret Savik didn’t just win a state title—he rewrote the record books.

This week on Keeping Score: Poster Player of the Week, we recognize one of the most remarkable performances from the Montana high school track and field season. At the Class A State Championships in Laurel on May 30th, Savik shattered a 48-year-old state record in the triple jump with a personal-best leap of 48 feet, 4¾ inches, eclipsing a mark that had stood since 1978.

The standout senior wasn’t finished there. Savik also captured the Class A state championship in the high jump with another personal best of 6 feet, 6 inches and added a runner-up finish in the long jump, accounting for a huge share of Bigfork’s points as the Vikings battled to a second-place team finish.

Known for his relentless work ethic and competitive drive, Savik’s historic weekend was the culmination of years of dedication across multiple sports. His record-breaking jumps and championship performances helped cement his legacy as one of the premier athletes in Bigfork history.

  • Whitefish Tennis Makes History: Bulldogs Sweep Girls & Boys State Championships
    Jun 9 2026

History was made in Hardin, and the Whitefish Bulldogs were at the center of it all.

For this week's Poster Player(s), we're honoring the entire Whitefish boys and girls tennis programs after a remarkable performance at the Class A State Tennis Tournament. For the first time in school history, the Bulldogs captured both the boys and girls team state championships, cementing their place among the greatest teams Whitefish has ever produced.

The title-winning weekend was powered by standout individual performances across the board. Jack Oehlerich capped off his stellar senior season by winning the boys singles state championship, while Aaron Anderson and Marcus Mercer battled through a three-set thriller to claim the boys doubles crown. On the girls side, Camry Kelch and Allie Shors completed a dominant, undefeated tournament run to capture the girls doubles championship without dropping a single set.

Beyond the championships, Whitefish showcased incredible depth throughout the tournament, with additional podium finishes helping secure both team titles and complete a historic sweep.

  • Complete Game. 4 RBIs. State Title. Hayden Mayer's Historic Performance | Poster Player of the Week
    Jun 2 2026

Some performances don't just win games — they write history. This week's Poster Player of the Week is Bigfork senior Hayden Mayer, and it's not hard to see why.

In the Class A-B state championship game in Polson, Mayer did it all. He took the mound and never came off, throwing a complete game against a Dillon squad that entered the day with just one loss all season. When Bigfork needed a spark in the third inning, Mayer delivered the biggest hit of the game — a go-ahead three-run double that flipped the score and the momentum. He didn't stop there, adding another RBI later in the game to finish 2-for-4 with four RBIs and two runs scored.

This wasn't a one-game story either. Mayer was a cornerstone of a postseason run that took down three formidable opponents - defending champion Billings Central, Frenchtown, and the unbeaten Beavers - to bring Bigfork its first state baseball championship in program history.
