We're diving into a topic that's been on our minds for a while: the age of the guru, and whether it's actually over. We trace the word guru back through its Sanskrit roots, and follow how the concept made its way West.

From there we get into the harder question: how do you tell the difference between real wisdom, charisma, or a follower count, and what does it truly look like to trust your own inner knowing over an outside authority.

What You'll Hear in this Episode:
🌀 The Sanskrit roots of the word guru and how that original meaning has evolved
🌀 A fast history of how the concept came West — Vivekananda's unlikely entrance into the 1893 World's Parliament of Religions, Yogananda, the Beatles, transcendental meditation, and the modern coaching boom
🌀 How to use discernment with the people you look to for guidance
🌀 What it means to find the guru within instead of outsourcing your answers to someone else

We're continuing our Major Arcana series, and this episode marks a real turning point in the fool's journey.

After sitting with the inner world of the High Priestess and the outer structure of the Emperor, we're now looking at how belief gets handed to us, and what happens the moment we start choosing for ourselves.

The Hierophant is tradition, doctrine, and the guide who initiates us into the rules of the world we're born into. The Lovers is what comes after: the first real exercise of our own will, once we know enough to choose. We dig into the etymology, the symbolism, a wild synchronicity that showed up while we were prepping this one, and what it means to move from inherited belief into personal choice.

🌀The Hierophant's Greek roots and symbolism, the crossed keys, the crown, the benediction, and why this card is ruled by grounded, earthy Taurus
🌀The Lovers card's deeper meaning beyond romance, Archangel Raphael, the Tree of Knowledge and Tree of Life, and the choice between the outer path we're taught and the inner path of our own desires
