  • Why Showing Up To Church Changes Your Life
    Nov 15 2025

What if the difference between a stale spiritual life and a steady, joyful walk is as simple as showing up? We dive into the biblical heart of fellowship and unpack how Acts 2:42 forms a clear pattern for a thriving church: Scripture-centered teaching, genuine community, shared meals and communion, and real prayer that happens face to face.

We talk candidly about why livestreams can never replace embodied presence, how staying after service becomes fertile soil for prayer and encouragement, and why serving is a powerful way to move from shy to connected. Drawing from Hebrews 10:24–25, we make the case for meeting together to “stir up” love and good works, especially when life is heavy. You’ll hear practical, doable on-ramps—Sunday worship and adult Bible classes, midweek prayer as a midweek oasis, men’s and women’s gatherings, small groups, and simple hospitality that turns a meal into ministry. If you work Sundays, we share creative ways to stay plugged into the body so you continue to give and receive the care God designed for you.

We also explore 1 Corinthians 12’s picture of one body with many members, showing why every gift matters and how isolation robs both you and your church. With Proverbs 27:17 as a guide, we highlight how “iron sharpens iron” through honest conversation, shared work, and loving accountability. Come ready to trade a solo faith for a shared journey where people know your name, carry your burdens, and point you to Christ.

If this resonates, share it with a friend, subscribe on your favorite platform, and leave a review to help others find the show. Tell us: what’s one step you’ll take this week to deepen fellowship?

  • Sunsets, Spankings, and Sanctification: Yep, God’s Still Good
    Oct 8 2025

What if goodness isn’t a mood God slips in and out of, but the very essence of who He is? We dive into the unchanging goodness of God—how Scripture affirms it, how creation displays it, how discipline reveals it, and how the cross defines it. From Psalm 34:8 to James 1:17, we trace a throughline that holds steady when life doesn’t: God’s moral perfection, faithfulness, and mercy don’t waver with our circumstances.

We open up the layers of divine goodness beyond sentiment—justice, holiness, patience, and compassion—then connect them to the rhythms of everyday life. You’ll hear practical ways to experience God’s goodness through prayer, worship, and Scripture, and how to spot it in answered prayers, ordinary providence, and the beauty right outside your window. We also talk about the hard part: why discipline is part of God’s love, how remembering past mercies builds resilient hope, and why common grace reaches every person, believer or not.

As we walk through the ultimate expression of goodness in Jesus Christ’s sacrifice, we talk about response: internal (gratitude, humility, wonder) and external (obedience, serving others, sharing the gospel). Expect a clear, Scripture-rich conversation that grounds your heart and equips your hands. If this encouraged you, subscribe, share with a friend, and leave a quick review so more people can find the show—and tell us: where have you seen God’s goodness this week?

  • Praying Through Pain: Finding God's Peace in Life's Trials
    Aug 29 2025

Sometimes life knocks us down so hard we wonder if we'll ever get back up. For Mike and Luisa, hosts of the Journey to Eternity podcast, these aren't just abstract concepts—they're living through them right now. Recording from the beautiful Smoky Mountains of Tennessee, they take a departure from their usual format to share the raw reality of their current struggles: Mike supporting his 87-year-old mother through a devastating fall and cognitive decline, and Luisa navigating the painful aftermath of complex shoulder surgery that revealed more damage than expected.

What makes this episode so powerful isn't just their willingness to be vulnerable, but how they demonstrate the transformative power of prayer through their own lived experience. The contrast between Mike's sister, who approaches their mother's decline without faith, and Mike's own peace-filled perspective speaks volumes about how prayer changes not just circumstances, but us. "Even in the trials, God gives us grace and something to celebrate," they remind us, having just marked both birthdays and their 17th wedding anniversary amid these challenges.

Drawing from Psalm 46, they outline six practical approaches to prayer during difficult seasons: being brutally honest with God about your feelings, asking for strength and endurance, seeking wisdom and perspective, maintaining gratitude despite pain, trusting God's faithfulness, and sharing burdens through prayer with fellow believers. Their approach isn't about religious platitudes—it's refreshingly authentic. As Luisa colorfully puts it, sometimes prayer is just "throwing up on God" when life becomes too much. Yet through that honest surrender comes the peace that surpasses understanding promised in Philippians 4.

Whether you're currently walking through your own valley or preparing for trials that may come, this episode offers both practical guidance and the comforting reminder that you're never alone in your struggles. As James 1:12 promises, "Blessed is the one who endures trials, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him." Join Mike and Luisa as they demonstrate what it truly means to pray your way through life's most challenging seasons.
