Why?

That's the question that we often have.

If God is good, then why does He allow us to face hardships?

These are timeless questions - in fact, they were the very questions asked by Job centuries ago.

But are there answers? That will be the focus of today's study of Job 2.

Friends should COMFORT us, right?

Friends should ENCOURAGE us!

But what happens when they accuse us or make us feel worse?

In Job 10, that's just what Job's friends did. They made him feel worse.

Job was hurting. Job was confused.

And because of that pain, he had questions for God.

And that's OK - there's nothing wrong with questions!

But what's NOT OK is questioning God's discernment, as if God's actions are subject to critique.

And that's what Job had done.

Well consider God's servant, Job. Yes, Job cried a lot of tears. Yes, Job hurt. But in time, all those tears and pains were wiped away.

Why?

It is the most basic of all questions.

As humans, we want to know why things happen.

Especially when those things are painful.

That was Job's problem.

Job couldn't understand how God could allow his suffering.
