  • Episode 21 - Complexity & Contrarianism
    Oct 6 2021
Do I argue for fun or is there something deeper to it all? I try and unpack what others might call my "contrarian ways" in this episode...

  • Episode 20 (redo): COVID Mandates, Saying "I don't know", Twitter & the value of the action sports athlete
    Sep 11 2021
Where does government overreach start or stop? When it it okay to mandate something on behalf of the federal government? Why should we maybe sit back with respect to topics out of the middle east? How much should an action sports athlete get paid? These are a few of the questions I address in this episode. For those who caught it, this is a redo of my prior Episode 20. Topics largely the same, though in reverse order. Those wondering, the reason I pulled the episode had more to do with how I felt it could come across to a person I respect very much. I didn't like it, so I pulled the episode. This episode I touch on the same things, but I hope I come across less confrontational and more "hey these are my ideas". In any case, enjoy!

  • Episode 19 - Ivermectin, lab leaks and feedback loops - how big tech is blowing it
    Jul 1 2021
In this episode I get into the recent demonetization of Professor Bret Weinstein following his suggestion Ivermectin may be a useful tool in treating COVID-19. I offer a few counter points as to what our real controls are around free speech and why big tech may in fact be in violation with the spirit of what the founding fathers had in mind around the sharing of ideas. • Episode 18 - Interview - Jared Holst & Brands Mean A Lot
    May 7 2021
In this episode I interview my longtime friend & author Jared Holst. Jared has a extensive background in business and marketing following his education at Yale and Tufts. His writing can be found by visiting his substack, https://brandsmeanalot.substack.com/ (Brandsmeanalot) (please check it out!). In this episode we focus on a number of issues including the shortcomings of modern banking and corporate America's branding's impact on culture. Jared currently lives in Brooklyn, NY, which is about as opposite to Idaho/Wyoming as one could get. Despite having different world views, I hope listeners find it encouraging we can have a nuanced conversation that does not devolve into tribalism or similar. One of my big hopes in doing this podcast is to show we all have more in common than not, and long form conversation can illuminate this. I hope to have Jared back; he's one of the most thoughtful & intelligent humans I am lucky enough to know.

  • Episode 17 - The only real winner is Zuck
    Mar 27 2021
Who really wins in an internet argument? As the divide grows bigger and bigger, I used two incidents over the last week to discuss the differences and similarties between both sides, talk about the lack of nuance in the broader social media landscape, and how big of a waste of time "all this probably is". I also talk gun control following the two mass shootings in ATL and Boulder. Tune in.

  • Episode 16 - Novelty can only be handled in small doses
    Mar 20 2021
This show had a few themes including... A humans ability to handle something novel or new is limited. Expanding this is key to growth, or so it seems. Update on the vaccine. We've vaccinated 118M and continue to dole out 2.5M shots a day. We should have a lot of pride in our country's ability to continue to roll out the vaccine as aggressively as we are, with the US responsible for inoculating more people than any other country. Tragedy in Atlanta and the pendulum of wokeness swinging back toward common sense. What in the hell is happening in the financial markets

  • Episode 15 - Thoughts during the 100,000 vertical foot February challenge
    Mar 12 2021
In this episode I explore some of the thoughts I had while marching uphill to the tune of 100,000 vertical feet in the month of February. Themes include The mismatch of incentive in political pay, Lack of understanding in Washington when it comes to technology IQ & the degradation of order I close with an open callout to Protect Our Winters following their communications director publicly calling me out on a social platform. Would LOVE to have a conversation guys & gals! • Episode 14 - GameStop and the Rise of the Retail Hedge Fund
    Jan 29 2021
Is the stock market rigged against the little guy? In this episode I do my best to define what the hell is going on with GameStop, AMC, Nokia, Blackberry and a number of other companies that have been making headlines this week. Should regulators shut the WallStreetBets subreddit down? Are the professional hedge fund managers being had? For those that don't know, I'm a senior qualitiative analyst at StreetAccount by FactSet, hence I've had a front row seat to the wildness that is this week. I've never seen anything like this, and not-so-secretly love what I'm seeing.
