You may know the singer-songwriter JP Saxe for a song called "If the World Was Ending," a collaboration with Julia Michaels that became an anthem for the pandemic era. Or you may be a true fan, in love with the intimacy, candor, and soulfulness that permeate his entire catalog. But even if you don't know his name, you probably know his work. He's co-written hits with a wide range of artists, from John Mayer and Finneas to Maren Morris and Nick Jonas.
When he sat down with Jason, the two discussed his path to the career he has today, some complex family experiences that helped shape his emotional intuitions, and the convictions that have compelled him to speak publicly about the issues he cares about. The episode includes a first for Everything That Rises - live performances of three of JP's songs.
