What happens when a medical malpractice attorney, Stanford graduate, and Supreme Court clerk realizes she never gave informed consent for the psychiatric medications that nearly cost her everything? Ellen P. Lubensky, Esq. spent 25 years in silence, hiding a permanent disability, navigating a misdiagnosis of bipolar 1 at age 20, and eventually fighting through benzodiazepine withdrawal while stranded alone in Costa Rica on a broken foot with zero hours of sleep.

Her story is a raw, unflinching look at what the mental health system gets wrong, and what it costs real people when providers skip the conversation about risk. Ellen doesn't speak from the outside looking in - she speaks from the inside of a system she was trained to navigate and still got blindsided by.If Ellen's story stayed with you, trust that instinct - the conversations that make you uncomfortable are often the ones you needed most. Heather Romanowski, freelance editor and co-founder of Book Realm Revisions, left a decade-long corporate career at Audi not just because she burned out doing the work of six editors, a colleague told her that her side business would never be considered a real conflict of interest. That one comment lit a fire that led her to Magic: The Gathering, government contracts, and a nine-year freelance career she built entirely on her own terms. Her story is a masterclass in turning a childhood obsession into a sustainable, multi-faceted business in an industry being reshaped by AI and economic pressure.

Heather breaks down exactly how she networks her way into rooms most freelancers never reach, including why she stays up until 2 AM at Gen Con running side quests for her clients, how a chance library conversation in 2017 launched her entire editing career, and why she believes face-to-face connection is the single most important skill in the age of AI. She also gets candid about the fear of hating what you love if you turn it into a career, the burnout that finally pushed her out of corporate, and what it really looks like to give yourself one year to sink or swim as a full-time business owner. This one is raw, specific, and packed with the kind of insight you only get from someone who has actually lived it.

If Heather's story hit home, share it with someone who's been sitting on a decision they're afraid to make. You might be the nudge they needed.Don't forget to subscribe and give us a 5-star rating!Connect with Heather Romanowski:Instagram: https://instagram.com/bookrealmrevisionsLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/heatherromanowskiYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@BookRealmRevisionsConnect with us:LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/jeremyswickInstagram: https://instagram.com/pod.intotheunkonwnInstagram: https://instagram.com/theaveragehistorianTikTok: https://tiktok.com/@theaveragehistorianFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/pod.intotheunknownLinkedIn: https://instagram.com/swickmedia414

What does it look like when someone refuses to quit on something they barely understand yet? Gio "F1" Douyon walked onto a rugby pitch at Georgia State not knowing the rules, got handed a position he wasn't entirely sure on, and then scored a 100-meter try the moment a coach finally put him where he belonged.

From playing with the elite rugby teams around the world to helping build Atlanta Old White into a back-to-back national championship program (..2...3!), Gio's journey is a masterclass in staying the course when the path isn't obvious yet.

Beyond the rugby pitch, Gio opens up about his training business, Above the Hype Performance, and why he believes every athlete deserves access to the kind of coaching that actually develops the whole person, not just the sport. He and Sumo also dig into one of the most underrated forces in adult life: the power of a community that shows up for you before you've even earned it.

If Gio's story resonated with you, you'll find even more in the full conversation - the kind of honesty about setbacks and rebuilding that doesn't usually make the highlight reel. Give it a listen and share it with someone who's navigating their own unexpected pivot right now.
