Made Possible - Episode 4: Inspiration and Reimagination
"We're trying to understand how things work right now. We don't really know how to put it together - yet."
- Emily Fleuriot
The creative world, and our place in it, has never felt so uncertain. A potent combination of tech, social and AI is seemingly blowing apart creative, research and production practices. So how do we stay true to our instinct, keep finding inspiration and maintain a broad, interesting frame of reference? And, most importantly, how do we make sure the ideas we bring into the world are worth having in the first place?
In this episode, Rachel is joined by Casey Bird, founder of AI-hybrid creative studio Studio Ru, and Emily Fleuriot, creative director and brand storyteller whose work is built around human-centric creativity.
Together, they explore the power of human creativity in reimagining what the future holds for the creative and production industries, and where to seek inspiration that will nourish and drive you.
Guests
Casey Bird is a Creative Director with fifteen years' experience shaping stories for global brands. Her latest chapter sees her working at the intersection of creativity and AI, and she is fast becoming one of the most credible creative voices in this space.
She began her career in advertising agencies across London, Paris, Amsterdam and Dubai, before moving into branded content at Refinery29, Channel 4 and AllBright. Creative Review named her one of its Creative Leaders 50, and Campaign included her in its Future Female Leaders list.
In 2024 she founded Studio Ru, an AI-hybrid creative studio that blends that depth of creative direction with emerging technology to deliver brand storytelling that is accessible, high quality and built for today's budgets and timelines. She is a long-standing champion of women in the creative industries, and was the inaugural elected president of SheSays London.
Emily Fleuriot is a multidisciplinary creative director and brand storyteller whose nearly three decades in the creative industries have taken her through publishing, e-commerce and creative agencies. The consistent thread running through all of her work is real human storytelling, and a belief that the best brand work is built on what actually makes people tick.
Also a Campaign Future Female Leader, Emily has led content and editorial direction at Refinery29, Redwood and Sunshine Company, for brands including Sleek Makeup, PUMA, adidas Originals and Barclays. Full disclosure: she works with us here at Parkview, helping us to step up and be more audacious with every brief.
Passionate about inclusion and representation in our industry, Emily is an executive coach specialising in supporting female leaders through transition, and a long-time mentor for Who's Your Momma. She has also volunteered for Livity UK, Sour Lemons and Brixton Finishing School. Perhaps a polymath, she is also an artist, which makes her hyper-aware of the power of creative process, observation and a critical eye, and of what gets lost when we optimise for speed and scale over meaning.
