  • She Came From Kitale: The Story of Edna Mmbali Ombakho
    Jun 17 2026

Edna Mmbali Ombakho was a thirty-one years old. She came from Kitale, Kenya to study for her Masters degree in London. She called her family every week without fail.

On the 1st of February 2026, she went for a walk near her home in Wraysbury, Berkshire. She did not come back.

For five weeks, her family flew from Kenya to sit in a police station in Berkshire. Her community organised, prayed, and appealed for information the national mainstream media said almost nothing.

This episode tells Edna’s full story: who she was, what happened during the 35 days she was missing, what community did, and what the silence around her case reveals about how Britain treats missing Black women.

Edna’s death is currently being treated as unexplained by Thames Valley Police. No arrests have been made. A coroner's report is awaited.

If you have any information relevant to the investigation, please call Thames Valley Police on 101. To remain completely anonymous, call Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.
