Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly. And welcome to the Iowa Weather Podcast — it's Sunday, February 22nd. Step outside and you'll feel 10 degrees with winds trying to knock you sideways. Those gusts hit 30 miles an hour. And wind chills are making it feel like minus 10 in spots. This is the kind of cold that finds every gap in your coat. Western Iowa gets the best deal today — sunshine pushes you to 26 degrees around 4 P.M. But don't get comfortable. By 5 A.M. Monday, you're back down to 2 degrees. Central Iowa tops out at 22 around 4 P.M., then crashes to 5 degrees by 4 A.M. Eastern Iowa and the Quad Cities stay coldest — just 18 degrees around 2 P.M., then 7 degrees overnight. Cover that skin if you're heading out tonight. Monday brings calmer winds and a bit more sun, but we're still stuck in the 20s. Then Tuesday? Everything changes. Highs rocket into the 40s and 50s. Western Iowa could hit 54 degrees. The Quad Cities climb to 48. That's a 30 degree swing in 24 hours. But here's the catch — a storm rolls in Wednesday night into Thursday. Rain and snow move through, with eastern Iowa and the Quad Cities most likely to see 1 to 3 inches of snow. Thursday morning's commute could get messy, so plan ahead. Friday cools back down, then we rebound again by Saturday with highs back in the 50s. A few snow showers could linger into the weekend, but nothing major. One bright spot — we're gaining 2 minutes and 41 seconds of daylight today. Sunrise at 7:01 A.M., sunset at 5:57 P.M. Alright. If this forecast helped you plan your week, share it with someone who could use a heads up. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.

Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly, and welcome to the Iowa Weather Podcast. It's Saturday, February 17th, and folks, Iowa woke up mean today. Step outside and you'll feel it instantly. Western Iowa sits at 10 degrees with a light northwest breeze at 5 miles an hour. Central Iowa reads 11 degrees. Not much better. Eastern Iowa hits 13 degrees, but gustier winds at 10 miles an hour make it sting. The Quad Cities claim bragging rights at 14 degrees, though that's like winning a contest nobody entered. Here's the deal on highs today. Western Iowa struggles to 18 degrees. Central Iowa barely touches 20. Eastern Iowa and the Quad Cities top out near 22. That's the kind of cold where your car door handle fights back. Sunrise hits at 6:32 A.M., and here's your silver lining. We're gaining 2 minutes and 52 seconds of daylight. Winter's grip is loosening, even if it doesn't feel like it yet. Tonight the real bite arrives. Lows plunge to minus 2 out west. Central Iowa drops to zero. Eastern Iowa holds at 3 degrees, Quad Cities at 4. Winds ease up, but that means patchy black ice on untreated roads. You'll want to take it slow if you're heading anywhere after dark. Sunday's a carbon copy. Sunny skies, mid 20s statewide. Perfect for watching football from the couch with zero guilt. Here's your heads up for the week ahead. This cold, dry pattern isn't budging. No snow, no thaw. Highs creep toward the upper 20s by Tuesday, which almost feels tropical compared to today. Then another cold snap rolls in Thursday. Think of it as winter reminding us who's boss. One more thing. If this forecast helped you plan your Saturday, share it with a neighbor. Word of mouth keeps us going. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow. Stay safe out there, folks. Bundle up!

Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly, and you're listening to the 6 AM Iowa Weather Podcast. It's Friday, February 16th. Folks, grab that coffee and let me paint the picture. Step outside right now and you'll feel the mid teens. Not terrible. Not friendly either. The kind of cold where your car door handle sticks just enough to annoy you. Here's the deal. We're gaining almost three extra minutes of daylight today. Sunrise at 6:33, sunset at 5:18. Those little wins matter in February. Now the weather story. Western Iowa is the wild card. A slight chance of flurries riding in on northwest winds. Nothing to cancel plans over. Just enough to dust your windshield. Highs near 34 degrees out there, dropping to 19 tonight. Drive east toward Des Moines and central Iowa climbs to 35 degrees. Partly cloudy. Northwest winds at 9 to 16 miles an hour. Tonight you're looking at 18 degrees. Keep rolling toward Cedar Rapids and eastern Iowa runs a touch cooler. Highs near 32 degrees with gustier winds, 15 to 20 miles an hour. That wind finds every zipper gap. Lows tonight hit 16 degrees. The Quad Cities? Windiest spot in the state today. Highs reach 38 degrees, but west winds at 15 to 25 miles an hour will steal that warmth right off your face. Tonight drops to 22 degrees. Here's your heads up for the week ahead. Saturday brings sunshine and mid 30s statewide. Sunday nudges toward 40 degrees. Both days dry. Perfect weekend to get outside if you bundle up. Early next week stays quiet with temperatures hovering near normal. No major storms on the radar through Wednesday. Air quality is moderate today, so if you're sensitive, you'll want to take it easy outside. One more thing. If this podcast helps you start your morning right, share it with a neighbor. Word of mouth keeps us going. I'll be back at 9 AM with your next update. Stay warm out there and enjoy that extra daylight!
