This week, we have another special episode, welcoming back Bishop Chad Jones to address a common question for those entering the Anglican tradition: the intercession of the saints. We explore the supernatural reality of the communion of saints and clarify the theological distinction between the saints’ intercession for us in heaven and our practice of asking for their prayers here on earth.
Our conversation addresses common objections, explaining why asking the saints for prayer is entirely different from necromancy, how bodiless souls can communicate, and why God desires us to pray for one another rather than just "going straight to the boss." We also look at how the invocation of saints is already woven into our hymns and the Book of Common Prayer, the history of All Souls' Day, and practical ways to incorporate this beautiful tradition—including asking our own departed loved ones to pray for us—into our daily spiritual lives.
