Every veteran remembers their first day. The uncertainty. The fear. The need to prove yourself. And most of us remember someone who helped us through it — a squad leader, a first sergeant, a chaplain, a mentor. Someone older, someone more experienced, someone who took the time to guide us and help us avoid unnecessary mistakes.
Now the question turns around: Who are you becoming for those behind you?
Whether you realize it or not, someone is watching your patrol — your life and your choices. Someone is learning from your example. Someone is drawing strength from the way you carry yourself.
