When Jesus said, “If you love me, keep my commandments,” what exactly was He talking about?
Was Jesus telling His followers to keep all 613 commandments found in the Old Covenant? The dietary restrictions? The clothing regulations? The laws about grooming, sacrifices, festivals, and everything else given to Israel through Moses?
If we’re going to use John 14:15 to tell people they must keep God’s commandments, shouldn’t we first understand which commandments Jesus was talking about?
In this episode, we’re opening the Bible and examining the difference between the Old Covenant and the New Covenant. We’ll look at John 13–15, Acts 15, Galatians, and Hebrews to understand what Jesus taught about obedience, love, and following Him.
This isn’t about promoting lawlessness. It’s about understanding grace, getting Scripture in context, and recognizing that following Jesus isn’t about placing ourselves under the entire Mosaic Law.
Jesus explicitly told His disciples:
“This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.” — John 15:12
Maybe it’s time we stopped measuring our faith by religious checklists and started paying closer attention to what Jesus actually taught.
Grace over religion. Jesus over performance.
