Doll Walk founder, Ashley Ryan, is joined by Doll Walk Organizers Qween Amor, Vera Lee Westwood, and Dee Chen as they reflect on that day and what it means to the transgender community.
The first ever Doll Walk NYC was a demonstration of radical malicious compliance when a group of 50 trans women marched topless across Central Park to Trump tower in response to Donald Trump changing the gender marker on their passports from 'Female' back to 'Male.'
In a powerful act of protest for Trans Day of Visibility 2026, these transgender women marched topless—directly confronting the contradiction of having breasts while the government now labels them as men. They were joined by politicians Karen Ortiz and Laura Dunn, who are pushing to advance transgender civil rights in Congress.
This celebration of trans joy focused specifically on the mislabeled gender marker on US passports, and they were successful in delivering their demands to Marco Rubio's desk at the Department of State with the message: change our passports back or we are going to do the Doll Walk again next year!
The Doll Walk is a civil rights movement that will forever live in history in the official 'Doll Walk' documentary, premiering next week at New York's Newfest as part of their 'Having a great time being trans lately' shorts segment. Come join us 10/22/26 at 7:30pm for the world premiere followed by Q&A.
Save the date: NYC Doll Walk 2027 - Sunday, March 28
