In this Daily Devotion for September 22, 2026, Pastor David Balla walks through Psalm 81:7-9, where God reminds His people of a long history of crying out and being delivered, then calls them to listen: there shall be no strange god among you. Celebration and clear commandment were never meant to be separated.

This devotion names the strange gods that still wear different disguises today, money, comfort, approval, endless self-reliance, quietly bowed down to without anyone using that word for it. Jesus alone fulfilled this commandment perfectly on your behalf, and through faith in Him, He frees you to worship the one true God without divided loyalty pulling at your heart. There we find true grace, forgiveness, and salvation, secured through His finished work rather than our own faithfulness. Through His redemption we are welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven, and in the Lord's Supper He draws our hearts back to Him again, giving His true body and blood for the forgiveness of sins.

As you sing and celebrate what God has done for you, let this command echo alongside your joy. Let no strange god take the place that belongs only to Him.
